I'm starting to get consistent inquiries about advertising on my blog. Would anyone feel comfortable sharing what they charge for advertising? Specifically, I'm wondering about:
Sidebar links on homepage
Sidebar links site-wide
Sidebar badges on homepage
Sidebar badges site-wide
Sponsored posts
Here are my current numbers, if it makes a difference:
PR 3
Alexa: 265,000
Last month:
2000 visits
1685 unique visits
3500 page views
Thanks!
Julie

Julie,
The fact that you are a PR3 makes a huge difference! I am still a PR0, but I don't charge any less than $25 per ad spot. The premium ones (top right or left of page) deserve at least $50/mo. Since you are a PR3, I would assume you could get at least double that, even for homepage only links!
I wouldn't emphasize your visitor numbers since they are still a little low. Stick with your page rank and your Alexa Rank (once you get it below 200,000, which I assume will be soon since you are part of the Alexa challenge) when you're asking for a certain amount per ad.
Hope that helps!

Install the google toolbar and turn on the setting to show PR for any given page.
I also think you can get it websitegrader.com
Google Page Rank checker and there are a number of sites that can check a URL for a PR.

I like to use this tool for general testing on the go: http://www.check-domains.com/w…..alyzer.php It shows Mozrank, PR, Alexa (I think) and all that jazz. Pretty cool, really.

Julie, everything is depending on the banner or ads that you are placing. This may help you http://www.warriorforum.com/wa…..sell-swap/, don't show your site directly to the buyers.. wait till they ping u back
And thank JT for the lovely tool.
Cheers!!

For me, it depends on the type of ad, (and sometimes I just take what I can get) but typically I try to get someone paying by month – it helps to create an extra income stream.

Congrats on the advertising inquiries. I think a $50 minimum is appropriate.

Mark $50 is good for text based ads, ask more for banners :)

$50 text, $75 banner, $90 package, $130-150 "special stuff" – customized
but then again in the beginning, some argue anything you can get is good. always leave your responses open ended by encouraging that you will work with their budget, i found this helpful for my niche sites

it depends if you are greedy or not ;-)
at PR3, I'd charge $40/month with package for 6 and 12 months. if you fill your spots too fast, start charging more ;-)

I read from another post, that once your Alexa goes below 200000, advertisement offers start coming in. Any one here got offers before reaching that landmark?
I applied for ad-sense but within a week they pulled out saying I was a risk to their customers. I guess Google does not entertain people with lower Alexa ranking. Can I get information on when I can re apply for adsense again, probably by creating another google account.
My page visit per day still around 50 guess it's not yet the correct time. any information from your experience would be great

OneCentAtatime,
Google adsense has nothing to do with Alexa. New websites getting approved is sort of hit/miss. Some site gets approved with just one week worth of post, but most sites they require you to apply only after a few months of blogging and with a good archive. Just reapply after a couple of months they will approve. And don't ever click on your own ads, for testing or formatting or whatever reason.
I personally waited to hit a number (that I made up myself) before putting ads, but the argument of getting your users used to advertisements from the beginning is also valid.
Feel free to email me to chat up. My blog is only an year old, so I might not be very useful, but I will share whatever I know…
(I tried to comment a couple of weeks ago on your why I failed as a blogger post and last week on another post, it never showed up. I did it from my phone so it might be just me, but just wanted to let you know that according to Akismet, I am spam. So if you are using Akismet spam plugin, can you please release me from there in the future . Thanks!)

I don't recall a correlation between our Alexa and advertising. I think advertisers read a LOT of sites and those producing quality get approached. Those w/ PR also get approached for link love. We are PR0 and our blog is about 7 months in now. Our mozRank is good (which is a closer reflection to PR than Alexa). Our blog income is well beyond our wildest expectations and most of it (less than 5% to date) has been Adsense.

I don't use Akismet, it's all brain filtering by me. I am frugal even in blogging spent as well :) I went back to trash and found 12 commentson 'Why I failed as blogger' post. Some of them are comments like, 'Its pity you don't show donate button', 'I jumped from my chair after reading this', 'you are greatest' , "you are thinking outside of the box' etc. By any chance yours one of these? :)
