Hi! I am starting a new blog trying to demystify the world of economics and personal finance. I would love any ideas for things that you would like to learn about or have explained on the blog. All ideas and constructive criticism are greatly appreciated.

I just read the Keynesian economics post. I agree that Thousandaire has a good blog as well!

I almost had to scroll down even to see the title of your top post. Twenty Eleven is fine for getting something out there but you'll want a theme that doesn't have practically a full-screen header like this one.

I use Atahulapa and love it. If I had to pick another, it would be F2.

I did love Atahualpa, but it doesn't compare to Headway. It'll do anything, and let you do it quickly.

Wow! Thanks for the advice! I hadn't even thought about that. I have switched temporarily to Elegant Grunge. I couldn't find any of the themes you guys mentioned. I only had 124 to choose from best I could tell.
I like the overall look of this one, but I need to figure out something to do with the header to get some more color in there and the font seems pretty small given the amount of dead space on the left and right of my content.
I liked the theme I had before becuase it auto rotated the pics, but I totally see your point about having to scroll down to see the posts.
Any other ideas out there. I'm willing to try pretty much anything.
Also if you have any content ideas or suggestions for me I would greatly appreciate it. I always have a hard time balancing the amount of information with making it simple and easy enough for everyone to understand.

I took a basic Econ class in college and, unfortunately, didn't learn a darn thing that stuck with me. I just remember having to do a bunch of stupid curve/graph things. I'd really like to read some refresher information, kind of Econ 101 but with a connection to real life finances. For example, an explanation of supply and demand, but with tips on how this might affect purchases and how to look to the economy to decide when to buy things.
I think you're uniquely qualified to present this kind of information because of your background, and it will drive a lot of traffic to your site. In my case, I'm just a recovering financial idiot who decided to blog, so I don't have the kind of authority you'll have with readers. I look forward to watching your site grow!

I'd like to know why Economics is more than just graphs and formulas, but applies to every facet of our everyday lives. :)

Thanks for the ideas. I will be sure to use them shortly. I may do a weekly feature where I answer a question from a reader. You guys are really helping me out. I'll be sure to link to you guys when I do this!
Invest it Wisely: I had to giggle at this because I am always trying to explain to my students that while we deal with a lot of graphs and formulas it's because it gives us a way to analyze information. Then it is up to us as individuals to take the irrelevant stuff we learn in class and apply it to real-life. That's how it becomes relevant!
Sooverdebt – I'm not sure how much actual authority I have lol. I learn new stuff and think about it in new ways everytime I teach a class.
I just taught Money and Banking for the first time and my claim to fame is that when I took M&B in undergrad I made a 32 on my first exam – but it was 20 points higher than anyone else in the class.

Anything that remotely resembles freakonomics and super freakonomics would be really popular. Maybe you should do a few articles in support of or refuting their scenarios. What fun economic books to read!

Thanks for being so active on Studenomics lately!
I took some basic and advanced economics courses in college. It's one of those topics that is complicating at first, until you sit down and have someone explain to you. Then you start to love it because you it's not about memorizing. It's about understanding how things work.
Any post on the law of diminishing returns would be cool. Maybe you could relate it to saving money?

Good point! I'm actually working on a e-book that addresses this. Maybe I can pick up some stuff from HA-Economist before I do!
Kevin, you actually have a good mind for economics, which is why I love reading your articles!

If you would like me to edit or want to run anything by me, please let me know! Also, since I check for cheater's all of the time, I have a service I can run it through that would flag any matches with other publications. It's a good way to double check behind yourself for copyright violations before you publish.

I like your site. As for topics, I would love reading anything that talks a little about the effects of the markets on our long-term financial strategies.
