These sites are pretty useless IMO.

Not to say your blog isn't worth something SB – but the REAL price someone would pay never seems to reflect what I see when I enter our site on "price your blog" sites.

The Financial Blogger, who has bought (and sold) a few sites in his day, takes a look at all sorts of metrics – traffic, advertising sources etc etc.  From what i've read, he usually thinks 12x monthly revenue to 24x monthly revenue.  In some circumstances, he has seen sites sell for 36x and even 48x monthly revenue.

If someone were to offer us 48x monthly revenue we would have to put some serious thought into selling.

They don't – and that is why the metrics they use mostly useless.

For instance, one site uses Compete and 8 other metrics.  The next doesn't use Compete, but uses Alexa.  The site after that uses BOTH Compete and Alexa.

Useless.

They have NO WAY to measure what kind of money a site earns.

My point, SB, is that your site is worth something – but don't use those silly aggregator sites.  Use a proven blogger evaluation.

Right now i'd be comfy saying my site is 12x my revenue (which we know, and don't share).  Wouldn't sell for that, I love income!

I know SPF, thats why my starting statement was " I know it doesn't mean anything.." would be fun if people report their blog worth.

A blogs worth is what someone has paid for it.  The valuation sites, peoples opinion, ultimately – mean diddly.

Probably all of those sites that give you your site's worth are bogus. It's fun to see a high value, sure, but it doesn't really mean anything.

I'd sell for 2x times my annual revenue, shameful I know!!! and then I would promptly start over as a Yakezie challenger another site lol.

It is a shame these site value amounts arent accurate lol…fun to think about though!

It is fun to look, but these are really more for entertainment purposes than real valuation.

They are kind of fun to look at – and the numbers do seem to go up over time.

Agreed. If I was offered 36-48x monthly revenue, I too would seriously think about selling.

Just out of curiosity, is it absence revenue, or do other types of ads get included in the equation when someone looks to buy?

Also, Merry Christmas Eve!!

Agree Derek, a check of 50 grand is too attractive to refuse, especially if you have a day job and don't depend on blog income.
