OneCentAtATime – I can't see how to comment at your site. Is there a comment bar for your posts or am I missing it? Welcome to Yakezie. Jump in with both feet and do your best to selflessly promote others and you'll find this network to be fantastic, and the best thing you've done for your blog! You may be surprised at how quickly your Alexa rating falls if you get really involved.
One thing worth noting: you mentioned in your joining Yakezie post that your name isn't on the member list. You have to complete the challenge to be added to that list. Until then, you're a challenger. You can add yourself to the Challengers list in Blogger's Lair.

You have to click on the post header, on the post page you can add comments, this was another question I posted on help forum, as to how to show number of comments below each post header with a link to #comments section. My theme Magazine basic doesn't support showing off comments counts on home page.
And, about Yakezie list, now I got the clue. Thanks for clarifying! Pls any one can answer to my question above? If you can send me the php tags as well, I can update my loop.php accordingly.

I do have a question regarding this:
If only 1 of my site is mentioned as a "member" (The Financial Blogger) but I have most of my site participating (e.g. having the badge and doing yakezie roundup) (Green Panda Treehouse & Do Not Wait for example), can I have them include as member? or should I take off the badge and use my roundup to promote other sites than the Yakezie?

Can someone explain this whole process in a nutshell to me? Sorry that I'm dense… I just want to make sure I understand what I need to do to participate. Thanks a bunch.

I mostly agree with Sam, but the member sites should minimally have the Yakezie badge.
It would be great if they help out the new members once in a while too.

Suba, I mean that every single link is to an advertiser, and most are written like sponsored posts with links to products and businesses. Every post is this way.
Got it! I got a guest post request from one of them too.

I've had the Yakezie challenger badge on my site for some time, and have had link roundups just about every week, but my Alexa score has been heading in the wrong direction for some time, from 117K to now 159K. No doubt a function of decreased blogging and commenting activity, since I've been traveling quite a bit more in the last couple months.

101 – I think its just part of how blogs work that less blogging and less commenting make for less readers and higher Alexa rating, but get back on track and you'll see your numbers improve in no time. :)

I definitely know what you mean! I went from 43k up to 69k over the past few months, because I have been so busy with life!

Sorry I missed this earlier. Only The Financial Blogger is a member. The other sites would be considered challengers until they complete the challenge. It's by website, not by blogger. We have several bloggers here who have one on the member side and one or more on the challenger side.
You can put up a challenger badge and still do roundups on those sites as challengers; it would help them to meet the threshhold of becoming members.

I'm confused, can you tell me what my other sites didn't achieved while TFB did? If I have to break top 100K for all my sites, I'm sure going to drop them off the list take off the badges and the roundup. I think that the Yakezie members benefits from my network since I can multiply the number of links I can do each week and promote the Yakezie through different audience. But if my sites are not considered, I'll stop this and work on something else and just keep TFB which made the cut (I still don't get how one site is considered a member or not yet even if I'm a member myself….)

Check with Sam, but my understanding is that each blog has to independently meet the challenge and apply to become a member on its own. It's not by blogger, but by blog.
If your blogs have all reached the criteria, contact Sam about writing a member post for them to become members too. Each blog is considered independently. That's why Suba has Wealth Informatics as a member and Broke Professionals as a challenger, and Khaleef has KNS Financial as a member and Fat Guy, Skinny Wallet as a challenger, and Melissa has Mom's Plan's as a member and Dining Out Challenge as a challenger.
Also, to become a member, they have to reach 200k, not 100k.

The rise and fall of Alexa rankings is normal. I think that all blogs see a rise at times.

From my perspective, I think that members should only be removed if it's obvious that they are no longer blogging for let's say a month or do not have the badge displayed on their site. I wouldn't even use SAM's modified Alexa requirement (there are some great blogs in our members list that have scores higher than 200,000) /*yes I know that Sam's proposed drop limit is 250,000 but there are some great blogs even over that number that are great */
Some of the bigger whales in the group have very busy blogs and may even be full time bloggers (Consumerism Commentary comes to mind). When a whale of a site like Consumerism Commentary, TFB, Canadian Blog, or FreeFromBroke or 10 to 20 others links to you or promotes your site in any way, it helps bigtime! But we also benefit just by having them display the Yakezie badge. This means more traffic to the Yakezie site and thus more traffic for the Yakezie members…
So just by having the larger blogs display the badge that links back to the site, indirectly the members still benefit.
I may be wrong in my thinking on this, but the more quality mass that we gain through stronger and stronger members, the more we all benefit. Regardless if they participate in the forums or not.
As for the challengers, some are intimidated by the forum or have a lot going on. But they aren't benefiting from the forum yet anyway. I guess we all have our own take on what helps and what doesn't. Quite honestly, some of them are newbies and can barely handle getting a grip with their blogs let along learning the ins and outs of forums.
This is just my opinion though, and I just checked on ebay and it's not going for much…

Money Reasons – I don't think forum participation is necessary to be an active member, but it's more than just having a badge. If a blog has a badge but never does any promoting of others in the network, they're not doing the "selflessly helping others" part of the deal. Not everyone will participate at the same level, and that's okay, but SOME level of participation would be good for those who are gaining the benefit of participating in the group.

Mike and All,
The idea is that we want to keep the network as personal as possible and not have unscrupulous folks "buy their way into the network." (not referring to you). We have cases where this has occurred, so to assure that this doesn't happen, no matter how good the intention, we focus on both the Member and individual blog sites. We've encountered some really shady blogs/folks out there, and we want to protect our Network as best as possible. Good for the Network overall.
The other issue is matching supply and demand. If we didn't go by a blog by blog basis, we could each theoretically buy 50 blogs and create a crowding out effect, and basically chaos when it comes to campaigns. We're trying to carefully match supply and demand. If and when we get too much demand from advertisers, publishers, media, Mario Lopez etc, then we could potentially expand more aggressively. I'm working on building a very helpful, but likely very expensive ($15-20k) interface for Yakezie.com to be finished by end of year which will theoretically launch us to another playing field.
Mike, you clearly are an excellent and interactive Member. We welcome the rest of your blogs into the network come July when the Gamma class joins just around the corner! Just write a Member Post for each blog and introduce how it came about, what it's about, the purpose, etc, and you're golden! Good for their profiles and letting others realize/remind you are the man in charge of them as well.
Hope everybody is on board and understands as we try and grow at a good rate. I've got a ton of money and time invested in this Network, and I'm about to spend a VERY large nut on a backend developer to help us all even further!
Thx,
Sam

I actually wasn't "accepted" as a member until I broke the 100K for TFB (my blog is around since 2006 so I was already under 200K before the Yakezie existed).
I understand Sam's reasons (from his answer on this thread) but I don't think I'll multiply myself into 4,5,6 individuals because it would be very complicated for me. I understand the problem with shady network and "fake" blogs but my blogs are clearly producing great and unique content. For now, I'll only keep TFB as a member (and still continue to participate!) But I will concentrate the rest of my business on other matters. It will be much easier to manage this way. Thx for clarifying the vision with this thread!
