I logged onto the 'ol blog today to find I have officially fallen below the 200k mark! I joined Oct 6th, I really thought it would take me the full 6 months but thanks everyone who continues to support me (and everyone else in this great challenge) I did it in 6 weeks :)
So do I now continue on until I hit 100k?

Hi Catherine, congratulations on your accomplishment!! Six weeks is so impressive. You've been working your tush off, girl! I just hit my below 200,000 mark last week after four months. I will continue to chisel away at the next chunk of ranking because it has inspired motivation to do what I love: to write persistently.

Congrats Catherine! Your hard work is paying off and it shows. I just went below 100k a week or two ago, so the continued descent is possible. It does feel good to break those markers.

Great news!! To get there in six weeks, what would you say your split of time has been among writing posts, social promotion, and networking with other blogs?

Congratulations Catherine! I am at 125K and hit 200K a month ago I think. Drop is 3-4K per day. I have a (completely unproven) personal theory that things will slow down after 3 months, and not after hitting a specific number. As you start tracking your ranking, install your toolbar and bring similar bloggers to visit your site, you kick your ranking hard. Alexa compiles 3 months of data, so after a month, your other past 2 months account for nothing. Hence the three months slow down, because the only drop will be done by new readers, not the regular ones.

Hmm…Honestly I'm surprised how fast I got here especially since I have a baby at home (on mat leave though). I spend about an hour on the computer in the morning while she naps (either writing posts or commenting…mostly commenting though). I spend the most time on Twitter since I have it on my BB I check often, probably too often. I can't give you a time for this since my BB is my third arm I don't even notice…I check in on the blog in the afternoon (quick check, usually 15mins) usually just comments/email. And maybe an hour total in the evening to finish writing/scheduling posts/email. Does this answer your question??

Interesting Pauline…I'll see what I discover.
