Hello All,
I am running the Weaver II (FREE version) theme on my blog, and was wondering if there's a way to change *SOME* of my homepage posts to excerpts? I can only seem to find the options to have them all be excerpts, or none of them, but nowhere cna I specify that, say, the first two posts are full length, and the following 5 are excerpts….
Anyway, thought I'd throw it out there to see if anyone could help, or if I'm just screwed because I'm running a free theme.
Thanks all!

There's a plugin called Homepage Excerpts (that link contains the download link) that allows you to choose how many full posts vs. excerpts you want to display on the homepage. :)

Andrea, thanks so much! Now, the trick question; How do you get it to work with "Thumbnail for Excerpts" plugin so that you can see the thumbnail images on the excerpted homepage posts :)
Also, you know I'm coming do you for design once I put together the blog funds ;)

Hmm… That's a good question! I've never tried to use both of those at the same time. You're just evolving beyond Weaver in my opinion… When you start becoming frustrated with the limitations of your theme, it's getting close to time to move on. And I'm not just saying that so you'll hire me! I think something built on the Genesis framework might be good for you when the time comes; you'd have a lot more control over how your posts are displayed on the homepage.

Thanks Andrea! I'll keep playing around, but I believe you are correct. Most likely need to upgrade before I can get it to really look how I want.

I agree with Andrea. I played around with free themes too much, looking back at it. Not only did I spend too much time trying to optimize a free theme, but i spent even more time re-designing over and over. If you end up looking at premium themes, I highly recommend Headway.

Thanks for the heads up on Headway. I've tried 3 premium themes and so far like the look of StudioPress, but the internal feel of Thesis. I might give Headway a shot next time around cuz your site does look great! :)

Thanks Corey. Good to hear from someone who's been around the block, kicked ass and taken names :)
I also like Genesis, so I'll take a look at both.
