Hi, I've been reading through the forums dating back a couple of years and it seems like the WP themes in favor are Genesis, Elegant Themes, and Woo. It looks like Thesis is a no-go.
Just curious if those are still the big names out there or what the recommendations are these days.

Yes, most have moved at from Thesis due to poor support. Genesis has been my favorite for a while, but Woo is pretty good as well.

I switched Wealthy Turtle to Genesis awhile ago and I'm very pleased so far.

I use both Genesis and Thesis for my sites and I'm happy with both right now.
I tried out Genesis because the jump to Thesis to 2.0 was so confusing to me. It was a totally different set-up and the documentation was lacking. It has gotten better and once I made the switch it, made it easy to tweak my sites.

Try finding a theme on Themeforest! It's super awesome and cheap.

All of my sites are on Thesis (version 1.x since I didn't like 2.0). I like it, but as technology updates, there are little things that are breaking on my sites. I have to actively search online for others who have modified their code to get the updates to work – for example, after the last wordpress update, my site would show that a post had 10 comments, but comments never showed up on any post
I am going to move one of the smaller sites to Genesis and see how it all goes. If no real issues, I'll slowly switch the others over too.

This same thing happened to me with Tie the Money Knot. I worked with Andrea (Nuts and Bolts), and she helped me out with it. In the long run, I might switch that to Genesis too. I've been pleased with that with Squirrelers.

I only use Genesis for all of my sites and client sites. I moved away from Thesis after the 2.0 switch and I've been thrilled with Genesis as both a user and developer.
I would always avoid ThemeForrest because the quality and customization are often lacking.
