Just in case someone notices that I'm missing from the Yakezie during the weekdays, it's because my job finally blocked the site. They go through and block sites every quarter and Yakezie lasted longer than I thought it would. I'll still be checking and participating in the mornings and evenings, but I do apologize if I'm not as on-the-ball as usual. Woot Yakezie!

Wow! Do they simply block all non work related sites that employees visit, or is there something about Yakezie that they don't like? We used to use Trend Micro and it would block random sites that were not dangerous or offensive in any way!

You could proxy your way around it.

Wow! You would think you work for FBI or Pentagon… or something… what's up with all this blocking?

My guess is that the software blocks most sites with common forum scripts. Forums are a great way to waste a whole day without even knowing it, after all.

Best to be careful at work anyway. You never know what big brother is watching and tracking….

Yeah, everything is logged. If an employer need a reason to fire anyone, just check their system log….
I notice my work crawl through my site when I get on. Kind of creepy.

You can block your work IP. I do. :) Some places block the sites that people are frequently visiting or spend the most time on. I know that is true of my current job. Which is why…anyone have a decent experience with a wireless internet provider. Not too expensive. I'll only use it for maybe 5 hours a week.

I don't work anywhere important (like the government or anything). They're just super strict and love to treat us all like children. I used to use proxies but they implemented a rule that if you try to go around their blocks on work computers in any way, they will immediately fire you. I'll be getting a smart phone soon so this won't be an issue, but until then, I'll just be using my free time to write more posts instead. Woot for being scheduled a month in advance! LOL. :-)

I am in the same boat. Our company essentially forbids all outside internet except a few "allowed" sites such as MapQuest. No fun for me at work (except on my iPhone).

D'oh! That stinks for the rest of us because we loved your advice! Well, hopefully you'll still add some great info in the mornings and at night! :)

I don't dare go to websites other than CNN or anything like that on my work machine. I know they look at everything, and I don't want to give them any fuel to 'fire'.

I can still get to Yakezie at work, but no facebook or retail sites. Usually I am too busy to sit and get on the computer.

I just realized that some of you may not have read about me and my job before and I sound like a complete slacker.
Here's a quick breakdown: I work in a cubicle doing a job that takes 6 months of training to just understand (and I am actually pretty smart), 2 years to master, and then is completely mindless (I listen to audio books while doing it with no problems at all). My work comes in waves and there is usually and hour or two in between them that I literally have nothing I can do. I mean nothing…even the cabinets are cleaned by someone else.
I make $35,000 a year to do this job and that's a huge improvement over the $26,500 I started at 5 years ago. I was job hunting for a while and then realized that I want to blog full time and this job enables me the time to pursue that. :-)
So, I am whining, but I am not slacking at work, promise. My tickets are done on time, usually days early, and my customers love me (at least, they write me nice letters once in a while). I'm just whining that I don't get to hang out with you all as often any more, lol.

Just get an iPad with a 3G wireless adapter. Thats what my boss does, and I know he is doing other stuff on it while at work!
