You never know which posts will resonate well and spread. I wrote a post, while hungover, two weeks ago that I posted last week. The post, Money Tips for New Grads, came from the heart. I wrote it with my little sister in mind, as she had graduated the day before.

I posted it last Monday with an average number of readers. That Thursday, Wise Bread included it in their top posts roundup. It was nice to get a little jump in readers, but nothing out of control. It had a typical post lifecycle after that jump. Until today…

Today it was mentioned in a roundup by The Simple Dollar. I am on track for my biggest readership day ever.

Every time you write a post, make sure it is your best post ever. You never know which one will explode and bring you a new wave of potential readers.

First and foremost, congratulations! It is very exciting when the same post is being picked up not once but twice. Well-written post, by the way. Hungover posts are usually my best (just kidding!) Again – congrats, and enjoy the ride.

Those SimpleDollar links can lead to some pretty serious traffic.  I've had articles get thousands of page views in a day when linked by Trent – and you never know what post is gonna catch the eye of the popular sites. Great job!

I have officially set a daily traffic record. After having a site 4 years, that doesn't happen every day. Exciting stuff!

CONGRATULATIONS!! You're making me nervous "Every time you write a post, make sure it is your best post ever". How about recommending writing one great post per week :)? My biggest referrers were from WB and Simple Dollar as well. I hope you convert them all to regular readers.

Congratulations, Eric. And I fully agree – you never know; well, I never know. And it works not only with blog posts but all kinds of writing.

The Simple Dollar is a great mention.  I still get traffic from a mention a while back.  Wisebread ain't too shabby either.

So the lesson is to write when hungover?  I knew I was doing something wrong!

I'd say the lesson is to write from the heart. I wrote the post with my sister in mind.

Problogger bit on a post about losing 50% of my traffic from Panda and turning around to have the biggest day ever. I have to do a little cleanup and will send it over.

I couldn't agree more  –> "Every time you write a post, make sure it is your best post ever. You never know which one will explode and bring you a new wave of potential readers."

We were featured in two different articles on DailyFinance.com this past week…  You NEVER know who your readers are or what will be a "hit"…

Congrats Eric!!!

The Problogger post goes up on June 15th. Also, the day after the mention was my second biggest day ever. Today is coming back down a bit, but still a good day.

Nice one!

I couldn't agree more. Sometimes you get a feeling for what will go off, but sometimes you just never know what will hit a vein.
