I'm seeing [BLOCKED BY STBV] on pingbacks emails from Wordpress. Does anyone know what this is all about?
Here is an example
New pingback on "Are You Getting Ripped Off At The Gas Pump?"
Website: [BLOCKED BY STBV] Festival of Frugality 359 (IP: 184.172.165.20 , gator172.hostgator.com)
URL: http://reachfinancialindepende…..ality-359/

Hi Marie,
That message comes from the Simple Trackback Validation plugin – it is marking suspected spam trackbacks. Unless the URL you mentioned hosted the Festival of Frugality, it probably scraped the original post, which is why the plugin caught it. If it's not spam, there's an option to approve it, but the plugin is generally pretty good about catching actual spam and not real trackbacks.
Hope that helps!

Good to know.
Do you think it's worth reporting scrape sites who are trying to get trackbacks? I've had a few posts in the past get scraped by 20 some different sites which I noticed all through spam trackbacks. I never approved them but is there any risk to my site's SEO and rank with scummy sites out there linking to me?
