Earlier today, it was suggested that I should use Feedburner for my RSS feed. Also, I've noticed that a lot of you do use this. However, I already have a way for readers to subscribe to my feeds via email. Is Feedburner really necessary? If so, why?
Thanks in advance for helping out a newbie!

YES! GET FEEDBURNER!
Feedburner gives you an interface to customize and manage your feed, where the standard WP feed doesn't. You can add your logo to your posts, for example, or see how many subscribers you have. You can also set up the format of your posts and change things like link color or font. I highly recommend Feedburner to everyone regardless of platform, because otherwise if there's a problem with your feed, there's nowhere to log in and see what's wrong.

I have over 100 blogs subscribed in my Google Reader. There's no way I would ever be able to handle all of this through e-mail. Feedburner reports that I have 350 or so subscribers, and my email subscription list (which you can use Feedburner's) is a fraction of that. So if you limit yourself to e-mail, you're shutting the door on a big portion of your audience that doesn't favor e-mail delivery.

I'm really green when it comes to this stuff, and I don't know anything about Google Reader. Do I need to put anything special on my page so those wishing to use Google Reader can subscribe or does Feedburner take care of that automatically?

Feedburner will give your readers two options: subscribe via RSS (which means they can read the posts in a reader) or subscribe via email.

Two more silly newbie questions…why does my feedburner feed have a double title? It is showing the following:
Club Thrifty – Club Thrifty
Also, some of you guys have your nifty little logo beside your blog title in Google Reader. I've just got an RSS logo. How do I change that.
Thanks for the help – and for introducing me to Feedburner!

You need a favicon for it to show beside the title – you just convert a square image to a favicon.ico file and upload it to your root directory.
I actually have a post on fixing the double title problem.
Hope that helps!
