Hi everyone!
I've been blogging for about 9 months but am new to Yakezie! I'll be attending the Financial Blogger Conference here in Chicago if any of y'all are going! :) I didn't know where exactly to post an introduction so I guess this'll do!
Anyhoo- I'm terribly frustrated with Feedburner. I have 37 subscribers to my feed (that's what google reader shows when I subscribe/unsubscribe to my own blog in my RSS reader) yet Feedburner only says I have 9. Now, I understand that the number is bound to fluctuate based upon who is reading it, but I can't imagine only and EXACTLY 9 people (never more, never less since I got feedburner and I know more have subscribed) of 37 view my posts in their feed each day.
I just installed the Feedburner plugin to my self hosted WP blog today so I'm not sure if that was the problem but would love your feedback and thanks for having me here at Yakezie! :)

Feedburner has been unreliable in my experience. They report x one day and then x/2 the next. Shortly after they are reporting the original number again. It's their issue, and not yours.

thanks! Ya, I'm confused as to how my subscriber number went permanently down after sign up and never recovered and has been stuck at a very odd "9" hmm. Thanks so much!

Feedburner numbers change every day and sometimes it can change wildly. That said, it sounds strange that you have an exact amount consistently. It could be something wasn't set up correctly. Give it a week or so and see if your subs change now that you are using the plugin.
Looking forward to meeting you and everyone else at FinCon!

Try FD Feedburner plugin. It helps sync up your feedburner numbers.

I was stuck at 11 for a long time. Even now it goes down to an exact number and comes back up FD FeedBurner thelps to add up all the numbers from different feed subscriptions. But FeedBurner is still unreliable. You can choose the display the average subscribers instead of daily… That might look better all the time. Just an option to consider…

FrugalBeautiful, something is not right there! I have never heard of FB showing fewer subscribers than Google Reader – usually it's the other way round!
I just subscribed via RSS, so if it doesn't go up to 10 you know that something is wrong!
I did notice thatmy Google Reader thinks your feed is as follows (a typical FB URL):
http://feeds.feedburner.com/fr…..lbeautiful
However the URL on the RSS button at the top of your page is something different. It seems to be redirecting fine, but perhaps FB is "dropping" subscribers along the way?

Miss Thrifty, mine goes to almost half the count on the days I dont post anything. And it is not real time (if you yourself subscribe from, let's says your friends email, it doesn't go up. I tried it with my husband email). FeedBurner is weird that way.

Welcome to the Yakezie Shannyn! Yes, feedburner has some "issues". My subscriber counts fluctuate a whole lot – I've learned just to ignore it :)

I double this recommendation. When I installed it, my number went up significantly. BTW, welcome and I look forward to meeting you in Chicago.

If I remember correctly the Fb number is the amount of people that open your feed on a given day, so the number can change quite a bit as not everyone looks at the same time. I have never had any trouble with feedburner, but being stuck on 9 doesn't sound good.
I have added you to my reader, so hopefully that will help out

Hi Twitter friend! Welcome to the Yakezie.
Feedburner stats are more ballpark guidelines. The science of counting feed subscribers is more of an art. It is based on number of fetches from unique users in a day, but different readers work differently and Feedburner isn't that great at counting and updating everything.
I wouldn't worry too much about that.

Thank you everyone! I installed the plugin, gave it a day and now..VOILA! My subscribers are not at 9 but at 61! What a huge relief…granted, I still have a lot to work on (I'd really like to get a number that's not so embarassing so I can put a widget in my sidebar, since I love those things)
Y'all were so helpful, It is such a great resource to be able to vent/throw ideas out/ask questions and get answers from people who know! My roomie who doesn't blog was trying to console me (as I sat frustrated yesterday) and though I appreciated her support, it wasn't the same as people who've been there! Thanks friends!

Like everyone else said, there is a huge fluctuation from day to day. Also, sometimes it takes a while for them to catch up with the RSS feeds. Mostly, they count only the email subscribers which would explain why your numbers are so low compared to Google Analytics.

Ha – interesting to note that we've all had different fluctuation/count problems with Feedburner! For info, I monitor the Feedburner stats for Miss Thrifty via SWIX (like Google Analytics, but for social media) and they look like this:
I.e. small daily fluctuations, punctuated by sudden & sharp dips that bear little correlation to post frequency or feed clickthroughs. I monitor subscribers for other blogs this way and this stuttering graph is fairly typical of them all…
I'd never heard of a Feedburner count sticking like that though, so am pleased to hear that you have been able to sort it FrugalBeautiful!
