And it is not that it is too low. It is that I don't have one! My Alexa ranking is now at 231,035, but I get nothing from PR Checker.
Any ideas what is wrong?

It takes time to get PR. You'll probably get one in the next update.

On what site?
Thad Thoughts, your main site, can't be found when I click through.
You also have a health care site that you seem to work for in your signature. Unless Kare 360 is a blog you are entering into Yakezie, and you can add a badge, you probably shouldn't have the link there

You might think about downloading the SEO Quake toolbar for your browser. My toolbar is showing that Thadthoughts has a PR of 0.

I can't even get to Thad Thoughts. Is it active?
It took me about two months to get PR 1 and about five months to get PR2. It takes time!

How long has the site been around, Thad?
My guess is that you just haven't been around long enough to have a PR > 0. Keep up the posting, getting links, and online presence and you should get one at the next update.

I don't think it's a time issue because the site seems to have some age to it.
I actually typed out a long thoughtful reply last night, but when I hit Submit I got an error and it disappeared.
To summarize: I think you need more sites linking in. Alexa shows you don't have very many. This can be remedied by going on a commenting spree.
Write your ass off this weekend, get two weeks of posts done and scheduled. Then go on a blog commenting spree. Find new sites you've never been to and leave thoughtful comments.
My site isn't that old and I went from 0 to 3 PR doing this. The next google update won't be for quite a while, but I think you'll be in solid shape for the next one.

I just checked, and there was a problem with the link in the ThadThoughts in my profile. I took your advice and pulled out my day job info. The Geezer Gadget Guy is only a week old.

I have had that blog up since Dec 2010, but have only been seriously focusing on it since Jan 1, 2012.

I am sorry your reply ran in to a problem on submit. I believe there was a plugin that was causing problems (since removed).
How often does Google update the PR?
I'm off to comment more!

Thanks to everyone for giving me feedback. I have to continue to track this down.
On another note, my Alexa ranking continues to improve, and is now at 217,736.

Hey Thad – the posting error was here on Yakezie forums, not on your site – so no worries there.

Just as a follow up to others posts…backlinks are huge, but they arent everything. The truth is, we dont know everything that goes into G's calculation of PR…but since you havent been overly active until last month that is probably the reason. You will have PR once the next update hits, which nobody knows when that will be. Good luck!

The best resource I know for learning about PR is Matt Cutts. You can find him all over the interwebs.

You'll basically need more dofollow links especially from PR3+ pages. Most personal finance blog comments are nofollow which isn't supposed to help your PR. You'll need to find ways to get some dofollow links such as blog carnivals, blogrolls, guest posting, directories, etc. PR is just about your links. Even though your blog is old, you likely didn't get many links over that time, especially ones that actually pass PR. I just missed out on the most recent PR update too. Previously it was every 3 months or so, but lately it has become more sporadic and likely won't be for at least another 4 months.
If it was an actual problem your PR would say N/A, which means your site is brand new or penalized. Don't worry too much about the PR number though. Focus more on actual traffic volume and the PR will naturally come. Only chase that number if you are in a rush to sell some advertising.

This is really key. Rankings are like the watched pot. The more you focus on them, the longer it's going to take to boil. You'll spend hours tweeking things, asking people to visit your site, instead of what really builds sites, good writing and building relationships. I try and visit a bunch of sites (yakezie and more), but that's because it's a way I meet new people and support writers that I really like.
