retireby40's reply from Google is in line with what I found on the Google site about these matters. In fact, if you follow the Google site reporting tree to the logical destinations, you also find that Google copies all such reports that it gets to chillingeffects.org. But, it does not seem that chillingeffects.org will do anything, because they are part of the Electronic Frontier foundation and their mission, in part, is to prevent the abuse of DMCA to suppress content on the web.
If someone really wants to pull the plug on this site and takes it to the ISP, then the site will just move to a different ISP. DMCA will only remove the material of the site complaining and only that is if zoko.in responds. Since the site is in the .in domain is managed by NIXI in India, DMCA is pretty useless.
Probably the most effective long-term strategy to shut down these thieves entirely is simply to wait to see if they try to monetize the site. Since by using stolen content, they would automatically violate the TOS of any advertizer, those ads would not last long.
THE REAL PROBLEM, HOWEVER, IS THAT BLOGGERS ARE CARELESS BY APPROVING SPAM LINKBACKS!
Of the 125 linkbacks to zoko.in, Alexa lists linkbacks from the top 100 websites. I just analyzed the top 100 list and stripped out the non-financial links which left 33 financially oriented sites linking to zoko.in. Although I am new to Yakezie, I recognize a lot of Yakezie sites on the list below.
If Yakezie bloggers want to take away the incentive for people to steal their content, then they should stop handing out free linkbacks to illegitimate websites. Bloggers need to pay attention to whether they are providing a linkback to a legitimate site when they moderate comments. When in doubt, look at the site before approving the linkback. If the site is smelly, classify the link request as a spam link.
Also, if you see your site listed below (some are listed more than once), you could/should go in and remove the linkback that you have already granted by reclassifying it as spam. Just find your permalink below and bring up your page. Then, open the page html source in your browser, and search for "zoko". Then, find the link you already approved in your comments list, but don't just delete it. Instead, indicate that it is spam. The only reason why I even remember zoko.in, was that Akismet listed it as a potentially legitimate comment rather than spam. I checked it out and spammed the comment. If a lot of bloggers do this, then Akismet is much more likely classify zoko.in as spam across all blogs, and that would help to bring an end to
this site.
