I just checked my site in Market Samurai for all of my targeted keywords, and it looks like things are in order for the most part. I did drop in a couple of keywords, but nothing too major. I'm still not sure why some of my articles completely disappeared from search results, but they are back now!
Thanks to everyone for your suggestions and reassurance!

Yeah, I'm not frantic, but it is pretty annoying to have something like this happen. I'm glad to hear that other people have gone through it and things worked out.
I guess I am really worried because Google kicked me out of AdSense a few months ago, and never told me why. So I automatically thought that whatever problems they had with my site before, came up again.
I'll update this thread if anything changes.
Thanks to everyone for their input!
I have heard so many different people say they have had similar experiences with Adsense. That is the reason i refuse to use it on my sites. There is too much sketchy business with it.
I am afraid I am not much help to you with the page ranking issue but I just wanted to add that i am learning a lot from everyone.

sounds like the google dance effect as per JT. expect a lot more of this as google is truing up their althorithm to further penalize content websites that have regurgitated info and aggressive back link strategies that are not natural

were you able to get back on Google Adsense as well?
I once got a warning for a picture of a duck standing in oil… man I was very affraid to see G taking me off their list! However, I have emailed them, they told me which page was wrong (and I've figured that the picture was shocking for some people) and fixed the problem.
did you hear back from them?

I only heard back from them when they told me that my appeal was denied, and that they couldn't tell me what I did wrong because they had to protect the confidentiality of their advertisers!
