I am sorry, but I have checked around and am wondering, how do I remove tags from my home page only? I am probably missing the obvious…

I think the idea is to not show tags in your sidebar – with either a widget or plugin. This way, they will only be seen when someone goes into a particular article.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Also, I believe that in the Thesis theme you are able to specify whether links to tags and/or categories would be nofollow or dofollow. I can't believe that an advertiser would care if you had an internal, nofollow link on your homepage.

I still have the cloud and I always thought that was useful for the reader who would browse for particular topics, but the idea here seems to be that they're actually pretty useless?

You can shut off the tag clouds with a noindex in your robots.txt file. That way visitors can use them, but they won't be indexed by search engines (won't suck up your homepage Google Juice.)

Hmm, I'll have to look into this. Doesn't the robots.txt control URL paths but not content? So, if I wanted the cloud itself not indexed then the links themselves would have to have a "noindex" property on them? Would that even affect the outgoing link calculus? I'm still very much a SEO newbie, haha…

Hey JT, you seem to know a lot about link juice and how to protect/preserve it. Would you be up to writing a mini post with a few tips that we could use to better manage our link juice?
I've heard you mention several things so far including:
- nofollow links (do you do this manually on every link?)
- noindex via the robots.txt file (can this be done in other ways too? when should it be done?)
- internal vs. external links and how they impact the flow of link juice
- lots of other stuff I can't remembe right now.
I don't know … just a set of concrete clear steps we could all take to better manage our SEO would be nice. Personally I'm most interested in steps we can take on our own sites to make improvements, not building backlinks and comments, etc. Although, that would be useful as well.
What do you say?

I'll put together something, and have it together by the weekend. But only after I get my homework done, of course. :P

If you have All in one SEO and I believe you do, all you have to
do is check the "noindex tag archives". It will take care of the rest.
If it is not indexed, I don't think you have add nofollow.

OK, I am so glad I am not crazy. I thought people were talking about removing the tags that show up on the bottom of each post from the home page and I could not figure out how to do that. The tag clouds are a totally different story. Thanks!

Khaleef, I believe Invest it Wisely was told that he had a lot of links (Kris was told the same I guess). And both of them have minimal external, Kris has moved her Blogroll and she doesn;t have a tag cloud as well. Most of the links came from social media plugin and categories/tags. I think what she want is, a way to remove her "tags" that show up under the posts on her home page. Am I right Kris?
I don't know if there a easy way (if there is, I didn't check properly). I have the tags displaying via conditional php. if home, ignore the tags, if single, show the tags. I can send you the php if you want, I have thesis, so you might have to see your theme help to see where it goes.

Suba, you got it exactly. I did move my blog roll and I never had a tag cloud. (Since my page rank is still 1, I have to do whatever I can to look more favorable to advertisers and such.)
If you could send me the php, that would be great!!

No, not at all. I LOVE talking about internet marketing…it isn't often that I get the chance.
I'll have to make this a section on my blog. I'm not too keen about "blogging about blogging," but I'll post it on a page, if nothing else.

Kris, I looked at your theme. Actually all you have to do is remove this part
<?php if( function_exists('the_tags') )
the_tags('<span class="posttags">'.__('Tagged', 'f2').' ', ', ', '</span>');
?>
from your index.php (Line #30). Your single.php already has the code to display the tags so it will display if the post is a single post, not a multipost page.
