Someone has just bought some advertising space on my blog. I agreed to put a 728x90 banner in my header. The small problem is I don't know how! I am not a programmer so I would need some very basic instructions, unless there is a pluggin available that can do it for you? Thanks in advance!

Is this on your Affiliate Marketing site? You'd probably have better luck contacting the theme developer – I'm not familiar enough with the Platform theme to know how the files are arranged or exactly what you'd need to do.

Yes it's my affiliate marketingsite. Is there a theme that has this functionality built in? I'm thinking of changing the look anyway.

There are a lot of themes that have widget areas built in for ads. The Genesis framework – which I highly recommend – has a widget area to the right of your logo that can be adjusted for a 728x90 banner (though your logo would have to be super small), or you could add a widget area between the header and your content. If you decide to go with Genesis and need help adding the widget area, let me know and I'd be glad to help out.

Thanks for your kind offer, I may change over to Genesis in the future. After loads of playing about I managed to get the banner working. The solution was really simple. I put the universal sidebar into the header and then put the code into that. I spent ages – learning is fun!

The good thing about doing things that way is that you'll never forget how to do it now – you'll be like, "Oh yeah, that was that huge pain in the ass I dealt with awhile back…" :D

Very true. The longer it takes to learn something, the longer it sticks in your mind!
