I don't see anymore when people link to my blog. Is there anything I can do about it?

track backs on our site have been wonky for a while now. Some people see when I link almost immediately and then others get the ping / track back 3-8 months late.

Same happens here. I use Technorati and Google Alerts to track people mentioning my site.

Me too and it sucks because if people link to me I don't always know to say thank you.

That's a great resource. Thanks Robert!

I use Google Alerts too but I only fit it so accurate. There are lots of times I end up finding out I am linked to and Google doesn't know about it.

I have had problems with trackbacks as well – the same as what SPF mentioned. I have also noticed that Google Alerts is missing more and more mentions. It seems to be a universal problem.
I never thought about using technorati – do you find them to be accurate, Robert?

How do you use Technorati?
Meanwhile I signed up for Google alerts.

Google alerts aren't reliable anymore. I would also like to know how Technorati shows incoming links.

Technorati shows recent mentions of your articles in your profile. Look for Reent Influential Reactions

I use Google Alerts for the amusement factor more than anything else these days. It seems to pick up my comments on Free Money Finance as the basis for alerts, and even those are often weeks old. I also laugh because I have one set up for my name, and I guess a high school kid out east that shares my name is having quite the season at QB.

I have seen this too! I actually just approve a few trackback links from early 2010…

Google Alerts seems to get only a fraction of my links. I try to link back to everyone that links to me but I know I'm missing some. The funny thing about my Google alert emails is that they often go to the spam folder in my gmail. You would think they would know their own emails aren't spam.

I used to get a ton of alerts from Google, but now I only get a few. Even when I publish an article, I still don't get an alert!
Maybe I need to check my gmail spam folder.

A couple of things you can check to make sure you get your trackbacks:
In your WordPress dashboard>Settings>Discussion>make sure "Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks) is checked. (Sometimes Gremlins get into the Dashboard-especially after an update.)
Create a Google alert for your name, your twitter handle, your blog name and any other name you might use on the internet. My Google alerts always used to go to spam so I set up a rule and now they go to a designated folder.
Good luck!
