I never found out how I was infected. I suspect thru DreamHost on a shared server. After remediation I upgraded Wp version (that might have left me vulnerable) and all plugins. No issues this week.

Seems like those shared servers are often vulnerable! I'm not sure if bluehost is more or less so here as I think they use some kind of virtual machine solution — no idea!

And that covers 10 sites? Very cool. That $15 might be worth the 1 hour or more I spend every month managing that manually!
