I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but I think I'm having issues with Alexa.
I signed up for Alexa about a week ago and still have no rating. Last night I bought the domain name for my site and set up the new Alexa for the domain name, still says no data.
Am I being impatient? Does it take quite awhile to get a rank? I was under the impression you quickly got a rank even if it was in the hundred millions…
Thanks for you help!

If you signed up before purchasing a domain, then you won't have an Alexa rating since there was no site registered. And, since you only have a domain and no actual site (and even more so no content), then there is nothing for anyone to visit, and no activity to be measured.
You need to establish an actual site with content, then you will start to get visitors which will then translate into a ranking. If you haven't done anything as of yet, you should turn your focus from Alexa to building a site and once that is going then turn your attention back to statistics.

You may simply not have enough traffic to generate a ranking. If you just registered the .com last night, you may just need to give the system some time to start recording the traffic numbers going forward.

I believe it took me about 4 days to get an alexa ranking after I started my site. I would say that you can expect the same. Once you get your first ranking, it will change almost every day.

Remember also that the number you see in the toolbar is a 3-month average. That could have something to do with it as well.

It took about a week on my niche site to see a number on the bar. Be patient and it will appear. The great thing is that it will be a big number, really big, when you first start, but if you play your cards right it will start getting smaller very quickly.

I had over a year's worth of content before joining the Yakezie challenge (or at least showing up here). But one I started here the Alexa ranking improved tremendously.

You can also sign up as an admin for your site on Alexa and fill in the details. That should ensure a quicker listing.

I agree with Glen, since it's an average it will probably take a few days for the rating to come out

download the alexa toolbar and use it to visit your site. it should be there the very next alexa ranking update, which is practically everyday. if you don't use the toolbar, then there is no hit. i believe that's how it works. so i think alexa ranking number is a bit skewed since not everyone uses the toolbar.

Others have to review your site before one will show up.

Thanks for all of your help and suggestions – I was more afraid I had copied the tag wrong or pasted in the wrong place.
But today, I finally got a rating!!

I guess you may be a bit impatient. And, as far I understand, you need not register to get a ranking for your blog in Alexa. Just keep posting on your blog and Alexa will follow you. Content is the key. Moreover, install the toolbar and this will help you. All the best ..
