I am new to Blog Carnivals and would like to know what the proper way to link back to the

Carnival Host is.   Do I just create an article and link back to the article on the host site?

Thanks for the help.

Yes, the way you describe your backlink is perfect.

For me, on Sundays I usually have a weekly review of the my past week, and in that post I have a Carnival Section where I include any carnivals that I was a part of.  I've noticed that is a common form of back-linking to carnivals by many of the other bloggers.

I'd be curious to know how other do this too. I know lately, with the Yakezie Carnival just a few member backlink to the carnival, but really everybody should (common courtesy).  And obviously it helps the hosting blog get a bit of juice!

I link once a week using a post to do so. It works out pretty good. I also try to make sure to go to the hosting site and comment too.

I also link back with a weekly "wrap up" post to anyone that lets me know that they promoted a post of mine.  I also pot the link on G+ and tweet it a couple of times just for the additional exposure.

I do a weekly roundup and link back to carnivals I was in.  I've seen other people add a note to the article they submitted saying something along the lines of "this article was featured in the Carnival X" which I think works as well.

Getting a little off tangent, if any of you host a carnival, make sure you email everyone that made it in.  Sometimes a site won't get a trackback and it's difficult to know otherwise if you made it into a carnival.  This way you know they know and you can give them a quick reminder to link back as well.

Money Reason, I agree with FFB, we should add an email field in Yakezie carnival form.

On the carnival I hosted two weeks back, record shows more than 40 blogs submitted their post and only 8 blogs linked back. You draw your conclusion….

One thing for sure, carnivals are not just for getting a back link.

Ah, give it a bit more time though. Lazy bums like me often stockpile their carnival mentions & post them all in one go, weeks down the line. Also, I've noticed that not all blogs send pingbacks and others take a while to show up as backlinks.

That said, I occasionally host some of the larger carnivals (CoPF, FoF) and I do get annoyed when the same people consistently fail to link back. Carnivals aren't just for getting backlinks, true, but my goodness they take a lot of time and effort to put together!

When I link back I add something to the bottom of the actual post, like "Featured in XXX Carnival at XX website."

Did you email the participants to tell them they were included?  That's how I keep track of which carnivals I need to promote in my next link roundup.

We tend to do a weekly roundup where where Harri links back to all our carnival mentions, articles we enjoyed reading, some highlights from the blog and anyone else that was genorous enough to mention use throughout the week.~

it used to be a lot more haphazard and inconsistent until we made sure to do this every Friday. You can see an example here http://www.totallymoney.com/bl…..-blogs-10/.

The other way I quite like is when bloggers add a simple intro passage to the blog post saying that it had been picked for the carnival. That always seems like an easy solution if you only want to link back to the carnival and don't want to write a whole post about it.

I used to do a weekly roundup, and I included a "carnivals" section. Now, I just add a note at the bottom of the actual post that was included in the carnival. I will probably go back to the weekly roundups in the near future.

I usually do a weekly roundup and include the carnivals in that.

I do a round up every few weeks, where I share my recommended reading for that time period. At that time, I also include a section for acknowledgments of where my blog appeared in blog carnivals. So, some people may not link back within one week but will do so within a few weeks.

I do something similar. At the bottom of a post I will say "Thanks to XXX blog for including Narrow Bridge Finance in this week's Carnival of XXX." Sometimes I link to the article as well to give myself a little internal link juice.

I also link back in one big group, sometimes it takes a week or two. I second FFB's  plea to hosts to notify participants that they are in and asking them to back link!!!!

Congrats on the Plutus nod in the International Category!!!

Did you ever see an email field while submitting to yakezie carnival? that's why I was asking Money reasons to include email field in yakezie submission form…
