I don't use Disqus as I've never been a big fan, but I have been fine with commenting on other blogs who use Disqus…but lately I've been seeing that there's no longer a link back to other sites as is typical when leaving a comment. Is this a new 'feature' or something?
If there still is a way to have comments I leave allow some way back to my site, please let me know what I'm missing.
Otherwise, this is kind of crappy. I don't leave comments exclusively for the opportunity of clickbacks, but they can be a decent source of traffic, and I would hate to see that taken away for some reason that I can't even fathom.
For those using Disqus, please discuss. (See what I did there?)

I noticed some change in the new version of Disqus. I hadn't taken any time to figure anything out yet.

I've noticed the same and have pretty much the same opinion and request.

Good to know it's not just me. Hopefully it's something that Disqus users can configure, and if not, would bloggers consider moving to another platform so that URLs can be included from fellow bloggers?

Disqus makes an entire profile is you do sign up with them, which includes a description of who you are, your website (that you specify) and twitter account. It doesn't necessarily show the links straight away, but if you go to my site and click on my ugly mug in any of the comments, a tab will appear that shows all of that stuff. It also shows a recent history of comments left across all sites that use Discus as a comment system. So, in actuality, it is even more beneficial if you are interested in being "discovered" as people can see more about you than simply a name with a website. Or at least that's how I see it

And I did just e-mail their support team asking about this feature telling them how some people have no interest in signing up for a service just to leave a comment. Hopefully someone will actually respond within my lifetime

thanks for the info.
Personally, I find it a bit tedious. Not only have some blogs implemented Disqus, I'm also finding that some local newspapers and such have put it in for their commenting systems. This is annoying to me be because I prefer to comment as 'myself' for the newspaper sites and as my blog identify for fellow blogging sites. I can't do this since I now have a Disqus cookie that keeps me logged in.
Plus, what happens for those who run multiple blogs and might want to sprinkle comments around from different identities?
From the commenter perspective, Disquq seems like it's more for the 'basic' user and gets somewhat prohibitive for anybody who has special commenting needs (or wants as the case may be).

Yeah, but at the same time, those sites that have no formal commenting system are just as tedious if you are on a computer on which you don't want any tracking done (ie: remembering passwords, or auto-filling forms). Some sites only have the Facebook comments, which really puts a damper on comments as there are a lot of people who have no interest in getting an account, and there are lots of people who are leaving the network (*tangent*-regardless of what the company claims–I would bet that the "new accounts" are most likely second accounts for people, and not uniquely new members).
Everyone is going to have their own individual needs and preferences but unfortunately, there isn't one singular option that combines every single feature available, and it sue as heck wouldn't be free if it did exist. It's just a matter of finding something and sticking with it until it no longer works the way it is supposed to.
I actually did hear back from the Disqus team. They said it was not something that is a planned feature, but will be sent to their development team as a suggestion.

Interesting. I thought that the former version of Disqus included a URL field, so it isn't a potential feature since they obviously removed that functionality.
I agree that there's no one-size-fits-all, but I'm just wondering if, since 95% of blog comment pages include Name/Email/URL, if Disqus is no longer a good fit for blogs. And maybe they don't want to be, and would rather instead capture the newspaper and similar pages.

I've found that (aside from removing the links), the new Disqus is much easier to use. Most commenting systems are kind of klunky. The new Disqus is quick and makes moderation, etc easy.
