For the past several weeks, scheduled posts on EdwardAntrobus haven't been publishing. If I open a draft and click Publish, it publishes fine, but if I schedule it for a future time it will not. The post editor will say it's published, but it won't show up on the site. If I open the quick editor view, it will say "schedule missed" and I can change the status from "scheduled" to "published"

Has anyone else ever had this problem? Any ideas how to fix it?

I'm looking for editors, beta-readers, and some demographic research for my upcoming novel, Once Upon a Saturn Moon. If you like reading soft sci-fi thrillers, maybe with a touch of romance thrown in, you can find more information at http://seampublishing.com/once…..aturn-moon

Hi Edward,

It was happening on my site as well. Then I found a plugin that solves the problem.

WP Missed Schedule

Hope it works out for you.

That used to happen to me when I was in Blogger which was one of the reasons I left.  Hasn't happened yet in WP to me yet but now I'm going to keep my fingers crossed!

This may be a dumb suggestion, but make sure your Wordpress core is up to date. Sometimes if you're using an outdated version the features get wonky.

Hi Andrea. How do we check for that? Is that different from when we see a number in the update icon (icon with 2 arrows in a circle) in the wordpress gray bar at the top of the browser?

And do you know if Wordpress will also inform us there if there's an update for our theme? I'm using Thesis.

Thanks!

Wordpress will always let you know when there's an update – you'll get a box at the top of the screen that says a new version is available, with an "update now" link. You'll also see a black circle with a 1 beside Dashboard on the top left.

Wordpress usually lets you know if your theme needs to be updated. For reference, the latest version of Thesis is the new 2.0 (though I'm not sure if it requires additional payment since it's supposed to be completely different). I believe the last one before that was 1.8.5 – maybe someone who uses Thesis can chime in on this one. I do know that you only get Thesis updates for a year after purchase unless you pay for the developer package. Hope that helps!

Regarding the missed scheduled posts, I had that happen all the time until the latest WP update – now it works fine.

With regards to Thesis, Andrea's version info is correct. Also, you will not be notified of a Thesis update through your WP dashboard. You will have to check the DIY Themes blog for that.

I have tested Thesis 2.0 on one of my sites. I have the developers license, so I get all of the updates for free.

As far as scheduled post problems, I did have that until some recent updates. Make sure all plugins and the WP core are always updated to fix issues like that.

I use WP and have never had this happen. I think peoples' suggestions here are great, and I'd like to add to the pile of suggestions — have you installed a new plugin lately? So far, every time something goes wrong on Blue Collar Workman, it's because I installed a new plugin that's messing up something else. When I uninstall the newest plugin, everything goes back to awesome.

WP MIssed Schedule seems to be doing the trick for me, which is great, because I'm now having the same issue with If You Can Read, You Can Cook. The issues started happening a few weeks into switching some plugins around, but everything worked when I first changed them. What's really odd, is I changed the same plugins on both sites and it took an additional couple weeks for the problem to manifest on the other site. Thanks, Tushar for telling me about this plugin.

And just to be thorough and respond to Andrea, I'm pretty diligent about updates I rarely let a day go by without updating anything that notifies me of being updated.

Now I am having this same issue with Twenty Eleven.

I haven't added any new plugins and am up to date on everything that WP has notified me on.

Guess I'll try the plugin suggested.
