For whatever reason, one of my blog posts is a magnet for those spammy trackbacks. You know the ones? Yankee candle blog, swiffer coupon blog, "here is a list of blogs that, while unrelated, are awesome" — those.
How on earth do I get rid of those? I'm on Wordpress, so a plug-in would be awesome. Or, really, any tips would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I have to keep it so that I have to approve comments before they are posted unless they've been approved before. I was getting that a lot at the beginning so it was just easier for me to do it that way.

I still get them from time to time-but I haven't been blogging too long. And I only get trackbacks from spammy people even if other people link to me.

I turned trackbacks off for my site. There was more spam than legit trackbacks coming through.
Akismet does catch a lot of them.

It often depends on the topic. If it is a popular one with keywords that get picked up quickly by spammers then it will get hit a lot. I had that a couple times when I had a post about insurance.

A follow-up question: is it a trackback when I link to someone in a post? Because I don't want to turn those ones off.

When you link to someone else's site, it sends a trackback to that person to let them know that you have linked to them. On the flip side, if someone links to you, then you would get a trackback on your site. In your settings menu on Wordpress, within the Discussion section, there should be separate settings that you can enable/disable for sending out and receiving trackbacks.

I get a TON of these, and the best solution i've found has been the GASP check box.
