I have a really weird question. I subscribe to other blogs usually via email options (even through RSS subscriptions) so that I can get them delivered to my work email to read throughout my work day. (I think of them as my rewards–I do a report and get to read a blog post) However, I've noticed that I get some of them a day late but not all of them. Instead it varies by day and even sometimes by website. It's gotten so that I just go to the website to read the post instead of waiting for it to hit my email.
Is this because I'm using the email option on Feedburner?

I think it just depends on each blogs settings. Direct RSS would probably be the quicker option and then read in something like Google Reader.

My work decides when to deliver me email too sometimes they come the next day and I have people calling me to tell me they just sent it. Probably the work beaucracy and the hoops we must jump through to get personal email. I email my myself from my home email from my phone to my work email and sometimes it never makes it. I subscribe to my.yahoo and read them all there now.

I'll echo the sentiments above and recommend you subscribe to the rss feeds via an rss feed reader. Then you'll get much quicker notification about new posts. Plus it allows you to get more organized by categorizing blogs and adding notes for each blog.

Thanks for the help. I do like the idea of being able to read a new post when they are updated instead of a day later so I'll change it all over.

I prefer using RSS and reading in my reader. That way I can sort the sites and batch read as well.

I decided to go with the Google Reader and so far I am loving it. I love being able to star the posts that I want to include in my round up. Thanks for the help.

I know in Feedburner you can select a range of a few hours and you'll then get the email at that time. So my articles get published in the early morning, and a feed reader subscriber would catch them then, but the e-mails don't get sent out until later in the evening.

I'm glad you chose Google Reader if for no other reason than to share the tip of starring posts to include in weekly roundups. I've never thought of that.

I was just thinking the same thing! I only star things that I read from my phone and want to revisit when I can type, but starring to include them in a link-list sounds like a good idea too. Thanks!

This is exactly what I do! It makes weekly round-ups so easy because I already have a record of everything I loved that week.

It is so much easier to star them than for me to try to remember which post it was that I wanted to include. Glad to have given an idea for others to use!

I never thought of doing this either! I didn't actually even realize you could do this in Google Reader. The little things you learn along the way…

I just started using Google Reader this week and love it! I didn't know about the starring feature but that should become very useful. Any other tips for google reader?

Lance – I definitely recommend creating folders. I have my MUST READ PF blogs in one, all other PF blogs in another, and several other folders for non-PF stuff. It makes it SO much easier to read what I want when I don't have much time.
