I added someone to my blogroll and they ended up with over 500 back links. Has anyone had this problem? Could this be a virus? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

(If this is a duplicate thread- sorry. I'm having technically difficulties!)

Little house, can you give a little more information? That blog (the one you added) got 500 backlinks from your blog? Blogrolls are usually listed on every page, so as you have been around for a couple of years the # of total pages in your blog could easily be 500, so yes, they will get 500 back links from you?

If that is not what you are asking and the blog somehow inserted 500 links you might want to ask for some dedicated help asap.

I am with Suba on this one. If you add someone to your blogroll they will get a link from every single page of your website, which is over a thousand pages. If you don't want to do this then you either remove them from the blogroll or set it up, so your blogroll only shows on your homepage. I can't see any other problems with your site, so we would need more information if there is still an issue

This is exactly what happened. I added a blog to my blogroll, and he noticed in his Google Webmaster tools that there was over 500 back links to my site (Little House in the Valley.) Are you saying this is normal? If so, thanks so much Suba for clearing this up!

Thanks, Henry as well. If this is the case, I'm not too concerned.

Thanks for that contact. As soon as I clarify something, I'll know if my site is okay or not. I'm beginning to think what happened is normal. But I might email Jesse anyway.

Nothing to worry about then. We have several blogs linking to us with over a 1000 links and it has never been a problem for us.

You can use widget logic to only show that backlink on specific pages.

Yes, Widget Logic works really well. I use this for ads all of the time.
