I post early morning. It's simply a preference.
I have read that Twitter tends to be a weekday 8 to 5 peak time social media network, and FB tends to be weeknights and weekends. I think earlier than I have been posting is where I am headed (at 7:30 now, but probably 6AM soon).

I always post at 6am Est and then shamelessly tweet a link to my post around 9AM, 6AM my time while I'm having my morning coffee.

I have found that my site gets the most visitors on Sundays. Not sure why but it happens regardless of my last post. But just to give the people something to read I post either early Sunday morning or late Saturday night. Throughout the week I post 6AM EST on the days I have something to post.

I'm with a lot of people here and post at 6am EST. I can't say I've done a lot of testing on this, but it does seem better to post earlier in the day rather than later.
I also noticed that I get better traffic posting Monday-Wednesday versus posting Thursday or Friday.
