I know that I should probably know this, but there's so much about 'blog land' that I haven't gotten a grasp on yet. Anyway, there's blogs out there that I can't leave comments on. They are setup to get comments but it just doesn't let me do it. Here's what I'm quacking about:
So, I click on the little arrow and this is all I have to choose from:
Google Account
LiveJournal
WordPress
TypePad
AIM
OpenID
I don't want to have to sign-up with any of these to be able to leave comments but it won't let me post without choosing and logging into one of them. Any suggestions?

There's no option to comment using your email or website?

Usually in those sites, there is a Name/url option, you are not seeing that?

I see a couple of these out there as well. When they don't have it set up to where "guests" can post comments, I simply don't comment.
This happens mostly with Blogger blogs that aren't set up for serious blogging purposes.

Not these ones. I'm fine with the name/url ones but these just don't give you it. I'd be fine not linking back to my site, but it won't even let me leave one w/out info.

Maybe contact each blogger through their contact page and ask them if they can change their settings.

I guess I should have read the other replies first (in dumb@ss mode, don't mind me).
I would be fine with not leaving a comment, but I'm supposed to be leaving comments on my summer team's posts. I don't want them to think I'm not participating, so I keep going back and trying every day or so.

Jen, if they are part of the Yakezie (or in fact any blogger who is open to comments), drop them a line saying you cannot leave comments due to this reason. Most likely the case is they just didn't know they had to set this up right. If you let them know they fix it to include the name/url or guest option.

Latisha, where ever you are your site FSYA has developed this illness of missing name/URL option for comment, I am afraid you will lose on some valuable comments. Take a look sooner.
Actually there's no incentive to leave comment using twitter or google account.

Thanks guys. I just thought maybe I was missing something. I'll just start emailing them if I can't leave a comment and hopefully they'll fix it.

That is a blogger thing, you shouldn't have that issue on Wordpress

Just saw this. I'm using Disqus now. I think we already talked about it but it's much easier to leave comments and moderate without having to login to WP. Plus you can simultaneously tweet your comment. And if you have a disqus account, you can comment with your name/url. (Lots of blogs use Disqus. I actually prefer it because I don't have to worry about typing my name and url for the site I visit.)

I know we talked over mail, this was posted before that. ARe you not missing the big point? You are taking away commenter's link back priviledge. I commented on your site using twitter account but, you may lose on some other potential commenter because of this.

Agreed. The harder you make it to comment the less comments you are going to get. I went to go comment not long ago and wanted to quote you and I couldn't copy and paste into the comment box. Your site won't allow copying.

Maybe you can use this service, http://www.tynt.com/publisher-…..z1YmPTolz6, instead of blocking the copy/paste feature altogether. What this does is add your URL to the information that is being copied.

You actually do still get a link back. You just have to register for a Disqus account.
I disabled the copy paste feature because my content was getting scraped.
I appreciate your concern but I am ok with my choice.
