Failed Experian security questions

Every 4 months, I check on my credit report using through annualcreditreport.com (the legitimate one from the government, not the website with the annoying jingles) using the techniques I wrote about last year (How to Get a Free Credit Report Every 4 Months). Up this time was Experian.

However, I seem to have failed the security questions. Something was obviously wrong, because I chose "none of the above" for all of the questions. And two of the questions seemed to reference a car purchase in the last year. So I went ahead and purchased my report, but nothing unexpected showed up.

Has anyone ever had an issue like this?

I'm looking for editors, beta-readers, and some demographic research for my upcoming novel, Once Upon a Saturn Moon. If you like reading soft sci-fi thrillers, maybe with a touch of romance thrown in, you can find more information at http://seampublishing.com/once…..aturn-moon

I've had that problem before as well.  I think the last time I did my credit report for one of the bureaus the correct answer for all of the questions was none of the above and I did pass the identity check.  A problem for me has been that I move a lot and don't remember my old addresses. When they ask which address is a former address I'm often not sure if any of the choices were a former address of mine or not.

Haha. I don't remember the address for the first 5 places I lived at, but but everything since I was 10 is covered.

I've never failed though the ones where it asks about past car loans and the payments can take some time to remember.  It's been over four years since we even had a car loan, so those details tend to fade after a while, yet they still seem pretty latched on.

Sorry Edward can't say I have. My credit report is all over the place so I'm not sure I'd be the best person to give advice haha

I've never failed the questions, but am I the only one that gets a little freaked out about the information that is known about you when you have to answer these questions?

I once put additional security on my credit and the depth of the questions asked if I needed to open an account or check on something was even more scary.

It's all information that is in the credit report anyway. Unless they start asking you about a car loan that you don't have. :)

True, I won't be very happy if a new car loan appears out of thin air.  And it does take me a bit of time to remember all of my other addresses when prompted.
