Part of the vision for my site and blog is to inform visitors about investments that the uber rich use.  Things middle class folks may not even be aware of.

If you are familiar with alternative investments and would like to either write a few guest posts for me or feed me information so I can write them and credit you as the source, please post a comment or shoot me an email.

I don't know that I know enough to write good guest post, but private equity would be a good topic to discuss.  PE investments are only open to institutional investors and the super rich.

I've heard recently that Wall Street people with money to burn have been bidding up big (big!) lots of farmland in Iowa and Illinois, and then leasing it out to tenant farmers.  You need some big bank to play in this game, but perhaps not so much as the uber rich.

I don't know if this is a subject for a full guest post, maybe only a postlet.

Would you be interested in writing a small post for me to put up on FMV?

OK – I'll have to do a bit of research, but I'll see if I can do one this week.

Wow – all this sounds like interesting stuff.  Keep putting stuff up here, I'd love to learn more (but sadly have nothing to offer)

I'd be open to writing a post regarding alternative investments for plunging market conditions… if you're interested.  I'll await your reply!

Hum, definitely sounds like an interesting idea; I'd personally like to read more about investments like hedge funds, private equity, and venture capital that are usually limited to the rich.  A thought, though: it would probably be good when writing such a post to find a way to apply the lessons of, say, hedge fund investing to investments made by those of us without hundreds of thousands in yearly income or millions in net worth.  Just a thought given where most people stand, net worth wise.

Hmmm …. I know a pretty wealthy couple who purchased a building — a commercial building — for $5 million, and rent it to small businesses. I also have heard about a guy in Russia who owns a few shopping malls and rents the space to retailers. In both cases, though, it's not an earth-shattering investment strategy — it's just landlording on a big scale. Not sure if that is the type of post you're looking for or not …
