I read the article, but concluded that in moderation we'll all be fine. The article made it sound like the author was searching every carnival out there.

I'm the author. And while I did submit to multiple finance-related carnivals on an ongoing basis, as many here do, I was hardly "searching every carnival out there." I'm curious… On what grounds did you conclude that we'll all be fine?

Has anyone else done a test like Michael did?
I stopped submitting to the carnivals (I was previously paying a service to submit 10-20 links a week) and I noticed almost no change, either positive or negative in my google traffic.
It would be interesting to see what happens to people with higher levels of traffic who start/stop carnival submissions.
