I haven't put it on my blog yet. After all this dialogue, maybe I will wait a bit longer.
Melissa, go ahead and put that in your blog. You could wait to sign up for a google plus account (blog +1 and google plus account are different, it is like putting the "like" button on your blog and actually having a facebook account.) but put the +1 thingy.

Yeah, it's best to take their T&C very seriously. In most cases, you need Google a heck of a lot more than they need you.

Yeah I must have been the first one suspended like 2 weeks ago. ;-) I didn't care anyway. I figured they would begin banning everyone that was in my circle since the vast majority of us use our pen names or blog names. Whatever. Won't kill me.
Google+ = Their Facebook like social networking thing
Google+1 = Their web page voting button
Right, but isnt the +1 basically a "facebook like"?

+1 is like facebook like but it is anchored to your gmail (email) instead of a google+ account. So you don't need a google plus account to +1 anything. If you do have a google plus account, the +1'ed stuff will show up in your dashboard for your circles.

Some people who have had their Google + accounts suspended have also lost access to all Google services including gmail. You definitely don't want to use a fake name on Google + right now. I don't think I'll be joining since Google already has too much power and I don't want to give it any more.

+1 will play a major role in google search starting shortly, it will be a human factor in search ranking apart from coputer algorithms.
So every one implement a +1 button on your blogs and actively encourage your readers to click it. More +1's you get chance are that your rank will be higher.
Nothing happening right at this moment though, its still machine algo

I just cancelled my Google+ account because I do not want to worry about losing access to gmail! That would suck. Plus, Google+ wasn't really curling up my toes anyway…

My account is under review for Google+ so I can't add to the service. I can still see my stream and add to my circles though. I probably should have changed my account to my name from the beginning. Hopefully I get it back soon.

Interesting thing happened – My account went from under review to suspended. After I was under review I changed the profile name to Glen Craig, it wasn't enough. I saw the suspended account yesterday and uploaded a profile pic and submitted for reconsideration. Today my account is back!

I am wondering if I should cancel my Google + account as a proactive measure. I don't want to lose access to gmail either. Crystal has a point. What do you all think?

When your account was suspended, did it affect your email and other Google features as well?

I'll change my name and profile picture and submit for consideration. Thanks for the tip Glen.
I still have access to my gmail. The only thing I can't do is to access Google + AND I can't +1 anything.

I'm still suspended, but I can comment on Google + AND +1 web sites again… Weird. Maybe they are messing around with the suspension.

I don't have the suspension box anymore but I recall it saying it didn't affect products that didn't require a profile, gmail being one of them. I think it's more things like G+ and Buzz.

Same here. I am happy with Facebook and will stick with it for the time being.

I closed my account. I don't want to take a chance with google cutting my other services off. I spoke to a Google + employee at BlogHer. She said they won't do anything with the other services, they will just block the "business" google + accounts, but I don't believe google that much :) She did say they are planning to roll out business accounts soon, so I will check back when that is available. Till then, I am happy with the other gazillion social media accounts out there…

I separate church and state so I don't have a problem. My Adsense and all Google services is under a different account than my Google+. ;-) Incidentally, I see that I was just UN-SUSPENDED by Google+. Wonder what's going on. I don't use it anyway. Rather be on Twitter.

Maybe they realized they were getting too much bad press and annoying users so they decided to reverse the bans?

I do wish Facebook had the capability of separating personal and blogging friends though.
