Deleted my Technorait Claim – Nooooo

Yep, I got tired of the claim not recognizing my site in any category.

I'm hoping that if I delete my claim and recreate it, that will fix it (I tried support, but they were like talking to a black hole).

My problem is that while it gives me general authority, it doesn't give me authority in any category, including breathing (joking)…

So far, it sounds like I'm one of the only sites with this problems.  I hope it works…

If it does work, I'll post a response to identify if my delete and recreate process worked.

The only thing that sucks is it will destroy my rank on moneycrashers list, but I guess I can live without that…

I hope it fixes it too. It took me forever to get my techonarti sorted out. Their service sucks- Juicy Peanut would take forever to get back to me and I always had to wait for a forum response. It wasn't instant. Eventually I was fine but I was very unimpressed how difficult they made the whole process.

Although my Technorati was smooth but, it took 6 months for Wisebread to add me. Your site might have fallen through a software bug.

Actually, if you have no Technorati you are given a N/A and I find those aren't counted toward the MC rankings.  I asked about it but was basically told the list can't penalize those who haven't been recognized for this or that (especially when PR was rarely updated earlier this year / late last year).

Although I am near the beginning of the top 100 in business and personal finance, I still don't get much traffic from Technorati.  It's nice to have authority on the site, but if the traffic isn't being generated, it really can't be that be a deal if you start from scratch.

You will start at the bottom with low authority, but it quickly goes up the second time. You should be back up to the authority level you were before (at least in the general authority) within a couple of weeks. Thats what happened when I deleted it and re-added it.

I actually get quite a bit of traffic from Technorati. I can really tell a difference when my site dips into the top 30 in personal finance. I think I'm at 104 in the business category right now. I'm interested to see how much traffic that brings as I move up since it is a much larger category.

That's good to hear!  My general authority was good, but every category I specified was 0.  Not I'm not the best blogger in the blogosphere, but I'm better than zero (I hope). Smile

Thanks Suba!

Since I was 0 for all categories, I have no idea Frown

I'm excited to see what type of results I get once Technorati is working for me though…

I'll miss my general authority.  I wonder how long I should wait before re-adding my claim… hmmm

At least it doesn't sounds like I'm missing too much…  We'll see…

I think that is the name "Juicy Peanut" where I read what to do.  I submitted a question, but after a few week gave up on getting a response…

Technorati is such a large site too, I'm surprised they don't have better customer support… Oh well, hopefully what I did will fix it.  I'll wait a few days before adding back my claim.

I had a decent amount of authority for my site in general, just not in any (literally) categories.  Since I had good general authority, it will affect me in the short run, but in the long run perhaps not (thanks Suba)…

I joined Technorati a few months after I started.  So hopefully it doesn't take almost 2 years to get added (lol).

I hope it takes correctly this time :)

Thanks, I hope so too!  It's been a bummer missing whatever traffic Technorati could have been pushing my way.  Hopefully I won't be disappointed once I do make the list…

I had a ton of issues getting listed on technorati, but after a couple months they worked the kinks out.  I do get a semi-decent amount of traffic from them weekly.

Okay, that took a while but finally my claim was verified and not I have some subcategory authority in Technorati.

After at least a year an a half of having a finance authority of 1, in a bit over 2 weeks timeframe, I'm now up to around 500. The important thing is at least it's moving now!

If you see that your site has a finance authority of 1, and if you are a personal finance blog… you might want to do that same as I did and:

1.) delete your claim.

2.) reclaim your site.

3.) post the technorati claim number near the top of a post (it's read from your RSS feed).

4.) wait a week or so for the technorati staff to approve your site.

*For some reasons the first time the technorati staff didn't like that I specified that I was a financial blog?!?

Go figure.

So I had to do a small rewrite of the same material and resubmit.  The next person that review my site didn't disagree that I had a financial blog and it got processed.

I might not make it to the top 100 for a while, but at least I'm now in the game Cool

I wish I had seen this earlier – my Technorati has been broken forever (I registered in March 2009) and I deleted it last Tuesday.  You think I've waited long enough to re-claim my site?  I'm sick of being stuck with Authority of 1 (and it wasn't picking up my feed, just to rub it in).

I wouldn't worry too much, I don't get much if any traffic from them. I've been as high as like #4 in finance, and now I'm #100. O well, I don't miss the hits and there's not much I can do to change it. Much better things to worry about in my opinion but it doesn't hurt to submit
