Hi all,
I'm guessing most of you are FINCON11. Lucky you! But for those of us still around, and eventually when you all come back, do you answer all your comments?

I do for the most part. If its a comment tread in my round-up, and most of the comments are just thank you's then I'll sometimes just post one "you're welcome" response to the group. Otherwise, up until now, I have been responding to each one on an individual basis. Although, I don't get a ton of comments so that makes it easier.

I enjoy the interaction of the comments, so I answer all of them. I think it also distinguishes you from the ones who do not.

That, and it helps people get to know you better (and vice versa). Just not sure how I'd handle it if I had as many as you

Always. if it's a simply comment like "excellent post", I'd just say "Thanks". Otherwise, my comment would be pretty long.

I reply to comments when it makes sense to. If a comment is simply re-stating what I wrote about I don't see a lot of reason to reply …
I think my comment replies are reserved for value-added dialogue.

I do reply to all questions…but many times they are vague statements, and sometimes I say "thanks" or something of that nature, but I dont always reply.

I'm with Sustainable PF and respond when I have a value-added response. I like to keep the dialogue going as much as possible, so I think it is important to respond.

I'm sometimes a little slow in doing so, but I do try and answer all of the comments.

Hi Eric,
I get a comfortable amount, but was curious how others handled a busy day or two where you can't get to your comments until a day or two later.

Thanks Tony! I pretty much answer all my comments. Do you ever get bogged down with other things where you can't get to them?

Hi SPF,
I understand where you're coming from. I should think about value add, too. Sometimes I go in a comment loop. Commenter repeats my message and then I would almost repeat my commenters repeated message which is like me repeating myself!

Hey Justin,
I'm at a point where I can pretty much answer all my comments. Guess my next goal is to generate more traffic where I don't have time to deal with the short comments.

Hi TCI,
I trying to improve dialog on my comment feedback. I'm thinking most people are so busy, they don't come back or move on to the next post.

Hi IIW,
I hear you. I think I worry too much about the commenter getting a response in a timely manner. I'm sure most of us understand how busy a blog life can be.

I worry about a prompt response too. I've found that Wordpress for my iPhone works well for responding to comments. Its quick and easy, and I can respond timely.

I try to answer each one when they come in. Like some of the others here, I'll ignore the occasional short or generic comment but any comment made with some thought behind it gets a response from me.

Very good topic to discuss! I do answer all comments on my site. Typically, I shoot for doing this once per week.

Good question Buck. I do try and reply to all questions, and respond to all other comments. Some do fall through the cracks, generally on older posts, but I don't like letting that happen.
I think it's important to respond. Having a blog is awesome, it's our voice on the net. It's our seat at the table of the world's biggest social network. But, you can only hold your seat if you engage; interaction is key to success. Alternatively, if you are not part of the conversation, you are not part of the network, and readers will lose interest.
But, there are some very successful blogs with no conversation. Seth Godin.
