Hi all,

I know we're all busy speeding through the blogosphere, but do you correct your comments for typos?  Confused

I assume you mean correct the comments of others who leave them on my blog?  I either accept or delete comments, I have never edited one.

Me too! I don't worry so much about the typos, but I'll strip a link or change the poster's name to "guest" if the comment is valuable, but the name/link is not helpful.

I do sometimes, if it's quite obvious, but most of the time I just let it go. It's not a poor reflection on me at all, and everyone has typos once in a while, even me! :)

I think I edited one comment when the typo changed the meaning of the comment. It was one of those words that frequently gets misspelled like raise and raze. (I don't remember the exact word.)

But other than that I don't edit comments. I do have a couple of sentences about comments in my disclaimer that mention that minor edits may be made and if a major edit is required it will be deleted.

Here's my exact wording. Feel free to use if you need, but it wasn't written with the advice of a lawyer so use at your own risk.

By posting a comment you agree that the moderators may approve, edit or reject your comment if it does not meet our standards or add to the conversation. Care will be taken not to change the wording of the comment and in the case of an inappropriate comment, the comment will be rejected rather than edited. Links from spammers will not be approved.

I don't . I think the comment should be authentic to who wrote it. If something is fuzzy in the comment though I will try to work it out in my response back.

I have a handful of times when a blogger immediately leaves another post apologizing for an error…I will make the change and delete the apology post. Laugh

I rarely edit a comment, only a few times so far. It's no big deal.

Looks like I'm alone on this one. I edit comments for typos or grammar if I know the person who left the comment – just so it doesn't reflect badly on them.

Hey Justin,

Guess I'm anal retentive.  I don't alter the meaning, but I correct typos if I catch them.

Hey Forest,

Been lucky, haven't been hit with comments with links.

Hey Penny Hoarder,

Nice trick, will keep that in mind if it ever happens to me.  Thanks!

I sometimes edit to fix typos, and I do edit to remove spammy links if the rest of the comment is good.
