I don't usually edit it unless it is something that will change the meaning AND I personally know the author. I have edited one or two links that was left in the body of the comment. If I really found it useful, I have de-linked them but kept the link as text. That is pretty much all the edits I have done.

I don't edit for grammar or typos.  I have edited to remove links or abusive language.

I only edit if it was requested. Otherwise, it stays as is.

Hi Suba, TFM, and Kris,

Thanks for the feedback.  Perhaps I have to loosen up about typos, haha.

Yeah, it looks like you and I are the only ones who do it often. Like I said, it's only when I know the person leaving the comment, and I don't want them to be judged based on a typo.

Hey Khaleef,

Guess we have something in common.  I too think, "my commenter was nice enough to leave a thoughful reply, I'll pitch in by cleaning up the typo".  Laugh

Once in a while I'll go back and remove links from comments or clean up language.

If I edit a comment rather than delete it outright, I try to respect what the commenter said.  In other words, I don't change "Your blog sucks" to "Your blog rocks."

I've never edited a comment.  I'm sure I have typos all over the world in my comments.  I never edit them… type and go, type and go.  I should probably be more careful.  I certainly don't expect the host to fix my typos.

I actually had someone from Visa "threaten" (in a really nice way) to post a link to his deal in the comments of my blog if I didn't tell my audience about a deal he was promoting! He basically said "if I don't hear back from you, I'll just post it in the comments with a link". I told him that I accept advertising, but he didn't want to advertise. Then I said go ahead and post the comment. He never did.

I either delete completely or leave it intact as originally written. I keep it even if I don't like it, but I don't tolerate grossly abusive or non-constructive hate comments. That impacts my Israel blog far more often than Narrow Bridge, but I use the same policy.

Thanks SPF!

Hey mbhunter,

That would be hilarious if someone actually did change a negative comment to a positive one.  I wonder if someone could play dumb and say, oh I thought sucks and rocks mean the same thing!

Hey Ashley,

Good point, I don't expect my host to clean my typos, too.

Hi Amanda,

Advertisers threatening to put a link, unbelievable.

Hey Eric,

Sorry to hear about your hateful comments to your Israel blog.  How do you deal with that?  Ignore it?

I occasionally remove links from a comment if the quality is very high. Otherwise I would leave it as it is or delete it unless I was asked to edit it by the commenter.

If a post is borderline spam, I'll delete the link, but leave the post.  That's the only editing I've ever done.

Most of it is pure uneducated anti-Semitic hate. It comes with the territory. The bulk are clearly from not native English speakers.
