Hi all,

In guest posting, is it better to mimic the main blog's style or should you bring your own style over?  On the fence so wanted to hear what others thought.

Thanks! Cool

I use my own style…honestly, it's because I am too lazy to try to change my writing style…

The host blog would probably like to bring in a new perspective to his audience. The audience would probably appreciate the variety as well. So I would suggest you bring your own style to a topic relevant to the host blog's and do not try to mimic.

I always write in my own style, but I do try to pick topics that relate to the hosts blog since that's what is interesting to their readers.

Hello Buck!

I would say your own style (as long as it's fine with the site owner) because then people will want to go to your website to get more.

I would say to write with your own style. A number of people have written guest posts for me recently (and I can still use more), and they all write with a different style. I think it's great to mix things up on the site!

I would go for your own style of writing, as you are trying to promote your own blog and you want to stand out. I would make sure that the topic fits with the host's blog though. I would also reply to any comments that the post generates as I always really appreciate the extra effort.

Agreed. I will change the topic to suit the audience but always post in my style and voice.

Right, I would find it difficult to write outside of my own style, but I do try to pick subjects that fit with the blog.

I have not done many guest posts, very few infact. I pick the topics to fit the hosting blog, but style/content will be mine.

Thanks all!  This may be the first time ever where all replies are exactly the same.  Post in your style and voice.  Amazing.  Looks like I know what to do!
