That is an interesting approach! I've never tried that before–always work hard and then reward yourself later. Hmmm….makes me think!

I reward myself BEFORE doing anything hard ;-)
so I go on my Playstation before doing my hardest task for example. It puts me in a good mood and then, I don't see the task as a chore anymore ;-)

Hey all,
If you have a bunch of tasks to do, how do you tackle them? Low hanging fruit, work you way up to the toughest cookie? Take out the hardest item first, rest easier, and go down hill from there?
Buck
I like to get a couple of easy things done first. It is satisfying to have something accomplished before dealing with harder, longer tasks.

I don't really think it matters how you divide the tasks… Whatever works for you is the best way to go! Best of luck.

I always tackle the harder ones first because I like getting them out of the way. Then I can just coast through the easier tasks..

Personally, I like to try to knock off an easy task or two when I first get down to work; a nice quick victory to get my mind focused and scratch one or two things off my To Do list. Then, I try to get down to business on a harder task (usually the one with the nearest deadline, though I've been known to do things that have farther deadlines if the rewards for completing them/consequences for failing to complete them are significantly greater). I try to take little mini breaks while working, both to keep my sanity and try to stay recharged.
If I finish the hard task before it gets too close to the end of the day (and since I do most of my work at home, the end of the day tends to be when I'm getting ready for bed), I will generally relax for a short time, then start another hard task if time allows. At the end of the day, I'll try to finish off a few easy tasks for a nice end of the day sense of accomplishment. Overall, it's a task sandwich, easy, hard, then easy again.

Hi Kay,
Yeah I kind of like getting a few easy ones out of the way. Satisfying and builds momentum.
Hi Pat,
Thanks! I was struggling with a few tasks so I put it out there to see how others do it. Spurs discussion and maybe learn a thing or two.
Hey Dana,
Interesting to see all the different answers. Like I said earlier, I think I need a few easy ones to get warmed up and then I can take down harder items.
Hi Roger,
Task sandwich of easy, hard, easy… I do that a few times myself, too. Thanks for your detailed feedback!
