Just curious about everyone's jury duty experience.  I was excused from serving on a capital murder case on a sequestered jury yestereday.  It was quite a process and probably would have been a very unique life experience to be selected – but I had already heard about the murder so was excused.

What was your jury selection, duty process?  Did you hate it?  Did you end up serving?

I've gotten ask to go several times but was never selected, which was fine by me. Some people like that sort of thing and some don't. I know some people actually called the court and ask to be selected…

I haven't ever been called for jury duty.  I do think it would be an interesting experience, and it is a civic duty, so don't know that I would mind it.  Plus, I've always enjoyed television shows like CSI, law and order, and such, so it appeals to that as well.

They've called me to jury duty 3 times…and every time was right after I had just moved to another state.  This time…I haven't moved.  I go in in the next few weeks to see if they need me.  While I want to do my civil duty, I'm hoping they'll let me go.  I'm not gonna pass my classes this semester if my attendance is…well, nonexistent.

I've never served, and have never been asked. However, I have friends who have gone multiple times.

Sometimes it seems like, once your name is selected, you keep getting called!  But it is supposed to be random.

I've never served, but I've been called and interviewed by the lawyers before being dismissed. You never know why the dismiss you, but it was a mortgage case and at the time I was the only non-homeowner there.

Wow, that would have been actually pretty interesting. I've never done jury duty before, but my boyfriend was summoned; he didn't have to go because they needed him at work, so he was excused.

I was called a while ago for a dog bite case.  I was in the jury box, but rejected because I was an accountant.  Lawyers do not like accountants or engineers because they are too precise.

I was called to jury duty once. I sat and waited for two days to be selected. I was not one of the selected jurors.

I've never served before but jury duty sounds interesting. I imagine it would be a great learning experience to get to know the justice system and current events. I've also heard from "The Office" that they provide free food to people who serve which is always a nice bonus Laugh

Got selected for a case once.  We were called back for a later date to commence the case.  Just before the trial started the parties settled.

Other times I sat around for painfully long times watching paint peel off the walls.  Good times!

Just once, murder and assault… would prefer not to go through that again, haha!  I also got called after an address change once, but I was able to avoid that one, heh.

Got the letter twice. Asked for deferral for being a college student.

I think it'd be really fun – like really, really fun.  But you really do have to sacrifice a lot, potentially for a very long time.  Realistically, it'd be hard to afford life on jury duty.  I think the going rate is less than $50 a day or something here.

My grandfather got selected once. He talked a lot about it shortly after the experience, but that was at least 15 years ago, so I don't remember it too well.

There was a period in my childhood when my mother would get a jury notice every year. But it was for the neighboring county instead of ours, , so she would just call and she's be removed from the list… until the next year.

I'm looking for editors, beta-readers, and some demographic research for my upcoming novel, Once Upon a Saturn Moon. If you like reading soft sci-fi thrillers, maybe with a touch of romance thrown in, you can find more information at http://seampublishing.com/once…..aturn-moon

I've been called twice. The first time was right after I had moved out of state so I couldn't do that one. The second time I was put in a pool of jurors but all we had to do was call to see if we had been picked for the smaller pool and I wasn't picked.  I wouldn't mind doing jury duty if I were picked though.

I did jury duty and when they asked me if I was biased I said yes who isn't. They said thank you Mr. Catalano you may go now. Telling the truth doesn't get you on a jury.

I was on jury duty and I served, I was there for three days.  It was really interesting but I actually was hoping to not be picked.  The only part that sucks is your peers on the jury, there is a lot of interesting people out there that do not see the obvious. We had to go back and forth for a couple of hours to convince a juror of the facts that the other 11 already knew.

I have never been summoned, but always thought it would be cool once. I work as an investigator and would love to see the court side of things.
