I haven't written any, but I know that most health insurance providers will have good articles like this on their websites.

Here is my Graduate's Guide to Open Enrollment.  You may find it useful as I discuss that very choice.

I love the freedom of a PPO – but between allergy shots and specialists, we use a fair amount of 'abnormal' coverage.  You might find the fact that most HMOs are cheaper to be a bonus if you don't use a lot of medical coverage.  Hopefully someone has an article laying it out in more detail, but that's what I've found.

I hate both! Seriously.

Benefits to HMO – Don't have to pick a doctor. Everything handled in one place. Simpler process.

Downsides to HMO – For profit company is your doctor's boss. Your service level is directly impacted.

Benefits to PPO – Pick your own doctor. Go to almost any pharmacy.

Downsides to PPO – More bureaucratic crap to get things done.

Either way, check out Simplee to make it easier on you - http://www.narrowbridge.net/20…..0/simplee/
