Just setup my own profile for the pure sake of having one. You can add links in your contributor profile (kind of like G+).
Figure it can't hurt to have a few extra backlinks to my site. :)

That's awesome Nick! I have been putting off setting up a Contributor account for too long and just need to sit down and do it. Have you seen any spike in traffic coming from it?

@Jeff: I only tried for the one link since this was my first submission. I didn't want to push my luck. I will definitely try for more in future submissions.
Others: The article was posted pretty late last night, and I haven't seen much traffic come in so far. I have only had one visitor from Yahoo since it was posted. I will try to update this thread if I see more traffic come in.

Well done, Nick. As to the traffic – we were on Yahoo Finance couple of weeks back and although there was no immediate and large spike it is still dripping. Also what I value most is the link :) – so good work to you (and the article is fit as well).

To all who were inquiring about what kind of traffic this has brought, Maria's description is spot on. It hasn't been a big spike, but more of a consistent trickle.

I wanted to update this thread to say that I got another one of my blog posts published on Yahoo Voices. Even though the last article did not produce much traffic I thought I would try to get one up with more links. The article that was published yesterday has two links to my blog plus a profile link (my profile has a link to my blog). It is kind of hard to tell because Yahoo uses NoFollow links, but it appears that so far I have received somewhere between 20-30 views from Yahoo today.

FYI: NoFollow is a search engine directive. If people click through using those links, they should still show in your stats.

Nice work Nick.
I have had success publishing an article through The Yahoo! Contributor network.
I was even put on the front page of Yahoo! for a day, and saw about 3,500 pageviews from Yahoo in one day! And the article got over 225,000 pageviews on the Yahoo side.
I highly recommend that people start contributing, and try to find someone who assigns articles to help you get published, can definitely be worth it.
