Hey all,
I have a plugin for allowing people to tweet my post and it's been working nicely. Do any of you have an opinion about adding the Facebook Like button? Worth while? Waste of time? Leave as is?
Thanks!

I had the facebook like button for a while and then it started giving me false hits so I took it down. I have only a few hits from twitter and even less from facebook….
I'm interested in what people have to say here too.

YES! Likes are so much more impactful than tweets! When you like, it shows up in all of your friends' homepages, and as such, it gets more exposure than tweets!

Facebook is pretty important these days. It's one of the top used sites. If you can work on ways to get traffic there then do it. I've heard search traffic has been taking social sites like FB into consideration (heard, who knows if it's really the case).
OTOH, I've heard that some FB plugins can slow up the site. You have to weigh that against the benefit of potential page views (like, if you have 15 people who like your page is it worth a slower site?).
Try out the Like button for a couple of weeks and check your analytics to see if you have more traffic from FB (reminds me, I need to check that myself).

Ive been impressed with the Sociable plugin, it allows you to share on FB, tweet, or submit the article to any of the other social media sites (i.e. digg, reddit, etc.) Some people are going to say Twitter, some Facebook, personally so far I like what Ive seen from Twitter…but Stumble and Reddit have really generated traffic to my site. I say why settle for one or the other, use a plugin that gives you the option for all of them.
Though I will say I do like where the placement of your "tweet" function is on the post, makes it very very easy for someone to click on it.

Twitter and Facebook are the two most popular sites for sharing your content, so yes it should be included.

It is worth putting a Like or Share button up. It could drive additional traffic.

I've been using Sexy Bookmarks to allow people to share by Facebook. Traffic from Facebook has been marginal for me, and only a small percentage of the amount I get from Twitter. YMMV, but I'm keen on keeping Facebook on the backburner. Twitter can reign supreme for now. :P

Yes, Yes, Yes!
I use Sharedaddy (in the Jetpack plugin bundle) to include Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, Digg, StumbleUpon, and Email shortcuts at the bottom of my posts. I often try to share valuable posts, but if there is no button I skip it.
