Hey Tony,

You bring up some great points in your post. To make it better, it would be amazing if you justify your assertions with examples.

Maybe I've been living under an engineering school cave, but when you mentioned "isms,"  I actually was not sure what these isms were? (patriotism?)

Also, I would like to respond that:

1. If we cut defense spending by at least 50%,  we can fund some of the other programs. (http://www.democracynow.org/20….._calls_for)

2. The Debt ceiling has a precedent of being raised whenever it was necessary. Rather than being a limit for borrowing, it is more of a political tool that politicians use to force concessions from each other. ("We cannot let a crisis go to waste!")

3. There is a new environment of "entrepreneurship" in America, especially on the west coast. On the east coast, people are still dreaming to work on wall street, but we now see a shift in preferences to tech innovation. NYC has recently called for a university that promotes Technological innovation to expand to areas of NYC (and build reputation as "silicon alley")

I wholeheartedly agree with your following point that America must realize that we cannot go around policing the world and expect others to not hate us or retaliate. I am incredibly opinionated on this, but I will not diverge further.

I'm glad you decided to cover such controversial topics. I look forward to reading your blog in the future.

Hey, nice article, xtremers.  I also didn't get what the "isms" are supposed to be. Maybe you can expand on that.
