What do you do to recharge after a stressful week or when you need inspiration to write?

I find that usually when I'm too busy things in my home get disorganized and messy- taking a day to clean up, watch TV and clear out the clutter really helps.  I also feel much better and get inspired when I finish a long overdue project (like a book that needs to be finished, a craft project that should have been done ages ago).

I'd love to hear how you decide to recharge and when you decide it's a good day to take some personal time and "slack off"  little.

In Gratitude,

Shannyn

To recharge, I generally like to get out in the Shenandoah National Park here in Virginia and hike. If you couple a hike to visiting a brewery for some beers, that's a nice day! It's also very beneficially because it forces me to be out of touch with the computer.

Cleaning works for me too… I think when you get your physical surroundings organized it kicks your brain in to organized mode… or at least thats my amateur psychologist view of it Wink

I recharge by doing a few things.

a) Inviting a couple of friends over to do archery in my backyard. It's rather fun, and we get to enjoy the outdoor weather at the same time.

b) Go mountain biking.

c) Invite a few friends for dinner at a restaurant, and catch up with them.

Archery? That is bad ass!  I only have a Wii..not nearly as cool doing that kind of thing virtually.

Nice day?  That sounds freakin' awesome!

Recharge?  A good work out, preferably outside (run or bike).  Or get to the dojo.  All things I don't do nearly enough.

Cleaning is my favorite too – I just feel so much better when everything is neat and organized.

@Tony – my 9 year old wants to do archery in our back yard too. No freak'n way! We live in the 'burbs.

I took last week off, mainly due to illness. The blog didn't really suffer too much. I created a new theme and now feel energized to write again.

Jacob, I was in Shenandoah last year to hike, very beautiful place, stayed at a cabin up there. I usually recharge by going to the gym and forget about everything else, it usually does the trick for me.

Tony – that is epic.

For me – working on the house or working on my body (weights, occasionally basketball).  Talking to my wife inspires me a lot – especially things she disagrees with, haha.

I sit in front of a computer all day so it's probably not a tremendous idea, but surfing the internet aimlessly is something I find myself doing too.

I get recharged when some one invites me for archery in the backyard or some one invites me for dinner.

Joking apart, I get recharged with a redbull!

A run, long walk, watch a movie / tv show (The Walking Dead is getting pretty good). Sometimes I allow myself to drift online for a while but getting away from the screen is probably best thing to do.

For me, definitely exercising is key.

I found that reading books (that are NOT related to personal finance) helps me to relax and recharge.

I like to do volunteer work.  This is particularly energizing.

Having different and diverse interests is important to me as well.

I exercise and get outdoors. I find the fresh air and mother nature really healing. Even when it is cold, I still enjoy it.

I like to go outside and play with the kids. Exercising and hiking always help as well I have just been too busy lately and need to get back in the habit of those as well. I need a good recharging today.

Cool
