There sure are a bunch of smart cookies here. Before, I worked at a university (and dreamed of breaking into finance). Now I'm a stay-at-home mommy.
Most challenging role ever.
My days look like this:
(I'd still love to complete a Masters in Business or Finance.)

CPA (specialize in taxes)…used to work Big 4, then in a Fortune 500 corporate tax department until I quit to be a stay-at-home-mom. Somedays I long for the chance to analyze a massive spreadsheet in a quiet cubicle…but mostly I love my new gig.
From home, I teach online college courses, blog, and take on an occasional corporate tax client.

How was Big 4? I couldn't imagine doing that. Regional CPA firms even got to me after 2.5 years and I got out to corporate accounting. Busy seasons made me want to gouge my eyes.

I won't lie. It was hard. I worked at PwC and the hours were CRAZY (50-55 hours off season; 60-70 in busy seasons). Sometimes I would work 6 a.m. – 1 a.m. only to get a few hours sleep and do it all over again. Spring busy season was the worst, but late summer/early fall wasn't fun either. I left after getting promoted to Senior, so I didn't stay long. It was all I could take. I wouldn't trade it for the world, though – I made lifelong friends (there's something about going through that together…), and the work experience looks awesome on my resume. I guess you could say I got about 6 years of experience in 2 year's time. Luckily, I didn't have kids back then. I don't know how I could have pulled that off.
