The thread about YouTube reminded me to ask for any resources, advice, or must have equipment you guys might have for someone (me!) new to video.
I'm going to be doing a series of videos (mostly screencasts) for one of my upcoming projects. I ordered a Blue Snowball mic and a pop filter, and I have iMovie, Garage Band, and Adobe After Effects for editing. Anything else I desperately need before I do video? What do you guys use?
I'd also love recs for screencasting software for Mac if anyone is using a particular program – I know Screenflow is the most highly touted but I really hate to spend $100 on it if there's another option.

Blue Snowball – check.
iMove. – check.
I use both.
Camtasia and Screenflow are very similar. I bought Camtasia for Mac and like it. From what I've seen seen it's 50/50 on people who prefer Camtasia vs. Screenflow.
There's a free version called CamStudio. I've never used it but it might be worth checking out.

Blue Snowball is great. I only do podcasts for now, but I use iMovie and GarageBand and they work great as you know. Good Luck and let us know when you're done!

Thanks, Jeff. It makes me feel better to know that someone very experienced with video has the same mic!
I'll have to look harder at some comparisons between Camtasia and Screenflow – I've heard of both but I don't really know what the differences are. Thanks again for the info!

Thanks, Buck! It will probably be awhile – I have a ton of projects on my list for 2013, plus I have to get over that paralyzing fear of my southern accent on video. :D We may be old and gray before I ever finish a single video! I really need to play with GarageBand more… I've used it, but mostly only for clipping ringtones from my mp3s. It amazes me how there's always so much to learn!
