Hi everybody– can use some tips on Alexa. I've done a good job with Google Page Rank and MozRank with my blog, but Alexa is much different– I write good content and post on social media a lot, but I know that those things do not help with Alexa.
I have been commenting daily on Yakezie member blogs, but obviously further enticement is needed:) Any good ideas as to what would get some Yakezie members to come visit? I will put on a pot of coffee…

Alexa is supposed to be a ranking system for all websites, as to the amount they are visited. However they can only calculate visitors who have the Alexa tool bar installed. Yakezie members and challengers all have these installed, so you are doing the right thing commenting on their blog posts, as usually they will return the favour.
Perhaps you could try hosting one of the Yakezie blog carnivals? I haven't done this yet, but I hear that it does benefit you as many people will visit your blogf to check if they have been included. ALso some will link back to the carnival post. Oh yes, and also submit your best posts to blog carnivals as well, if you don't already.
Aside from that I think you are doing a lot right. Your blog looks like it has good quality posts, which will also encourage traffic. Just be patient and keep up the good work!

Thanks, Jon! I appreciate you checking out my blog and commenting, especially since what you do is definitely related, and I am going to visit you regularly to find out more.
I posted that last night after checking my Alexa scores, and was frustrated to see that it had gone UP instead of DOWN, even though my Alexa rank here in the US has gone down quite a bit. I think blog carnivals are a good idea–and I have signed up to host one soon, but will also look into submitting some articles on some of the others. Thank you for taking the time to give me some pointers–you have no idea how much it is appreciated.

Agreed with the others, just keep visiting and commenting and people will swing by yours and help the Amexa edge downwards.

Welcome to yakezie denise. I found it hard to get to everyones site at first. I was talking with modest money because I had been subscribing to all comments via email. Def set up google reader or some other service to see multiple sites at once. I slide them back and forth in the columns on yahoo as to which ones I have commented on. comment comment comment…

Welcome to the challenge! You definitely have the right idea – commenting on other bloggers blogs is definitely what made the biggest impact on my ranking. I comment a LOT – a lot a lot – and so far it's been very effective!
Good luck, have fun, feel free to email me if you have any questions! (addvodka@gmail.com) :)

Denise – welcome to the challenge. From reading the above, it's clear that commenting is the most effective technique to drive traffic/lower alexa. If somebody comments on my site and says "Great Post!" I probably won't reply; but if they genuinely have something to add, I'll almost always reciprocate. I would never just comment to comment.

I have visited your blog a couple of times after you've left comments so you're commenting is working. It might just take a while to see the results.

The Alexa ranking can be frustrating at times. I had a post that received over 1200 views and it didn't help my Alexa ranking at all. The reason was the people viewing the post did not have the Alexa toolbar installed. Just keep active in this community and watch your Alexa ranking improve quickly.

Welcome to the Challenge Denise. You have received some great advice on ways to improve your Alexa rank. I agree with what has been said about leaving thoughtful comments, not only is the blog owner likely to reciprocate but visitors will see your comment and are more likely to visit your blog.
Another way to drive traffic to your site is to Guest Post. Feel free to contact me if you would like to write a guest post on FT.
