Hi all:
I'm still fuzzy on trackbacks. I have a self-hosted Wordpress blog. If I mention someone's article – do I then just also put a link in the "Trackbacks" section of the post? What if I have more than one?
Is there any way to set things up so my post "trackback" URL shows?

Trackbacks show up automatically when other sites mention your posts. I removed them, however, as they are a tool exploited by spammers to get free links.

Hey Eric,
Do you need to activate something? I never see when people write about me and I'm constantly getting emails or am part of linkups.
Do I look in some area to see who is linking up to me?

Wordpress has a box on the dashboard that tells you about links in, but it does not catch everything

hmmm my 'incoming links' section, which i guess is what you mean, is totally not updated, it stops at 2010. is there a plugin for this or a way to fix it?

Marina-go to google alerts and set up alerts for your blog name and your personal name. Google will email you when it is mentioned on line (most of the time). And welcome!

I have to say, I have done the google alerts and never get any sent when it's from other blogs. Almost weekly i'm in roundups and never get notice.
I need to talk to my webguy. Something isn't working on my end I think

I also have Google alerts, and have had the same experience as Marina. Nothing ever shows up! I wonder if I set it up wrong?
