Go with what Aaron said… register at Godaddy and host at Hostgator

Never had problems with either place and their customer service is top notch.

Every time I've tried a host other than Hostgator I've had problems with hackers… especially if I used wordpress

I got my hosting through HostGator during their Black Friday sale last year and have been pleased with them so far. They are offering 50% off for Black Friday again this year. You can get shared hosting for as low as $2.48 a month.  You can use my affiliate link to sign up if you want.

Why isn't godaddy that good?

I've just heard it's not as reliable in terms of the web hosting. Aside from that, they're simply not as popular with the bloggers that I know as most people choose Host Gator or Bluehost instead.

I'm totally fine with GoDaddy for registering domains, I just don't host them on there.

I have a lot of different domains for different interests and I use 1&1 to host them. It's a little more expensive than the others listed (over $100 a year)- but with the number of domains I have it's not bad. Also- I've never had any downtime or other issues due to increased traffic.

"Cloud" VPS from ASmallOrange.  I wouldn't ever go back to shared hosting; the difference is incredible.

I have about 25 sites on Bluehost and 10 or so on Hostgator. Both are comparable. Hostgator's back end seems to be a bit faster, but my sites load slightly faster overall on Bluehost.

Bluehost has awesome customer support.

I'll throw my affiliate link out here too. If you happen to buy through my link, I'll shoot you $30 via PayPal.

I use just host and just pay monthly – it's more expensive by a little bit, but I dont mind – i've got a couple other sites to run as well.

I pay yearly to a private host who has their own company. They have been great.
