Today is my Aunt Sheri's 15 Year Clean & Sober Birthday. I wrote a post to/for her and it was very personal and very intense for me. She was heavily involved in Meth but has cleaned up her life to the point where she is an award-winning business manager, actively assists others who are trying to get sober, is involved in programs in her work that train people with disabilities, went from paying restitution to buying a house, and is just an amazing person. She has helped me through many difficult times and been an important stabilizing influence in my life. This is the first post I've written about a living family member and I am going to share it with her. It would mean the world to me if my Yakezie friends could leave her a message of congratulations or encouragement. Thank you in advance.

Wow.  15 years ago, I hadn't even heard of meth, and I don't consider myself to have been particularly sheltered.

What an amazing transformation! My county is #1 in Kentucky for meth (gee, what a proud statistic to share) and one of my best friends from high school is finally turning her life around after nearly dying in a meth lab explosion. I can tell from your post how much your aunt means to you and I really hope she is as touched by it as I was!

That is a huge accomplishment. Meth is a big problem in my state. Turning your life around like that is an amazing story.

I don't think Meth is particularly huge around where I live but Heroine has exploded on Long Island in the past 5 or so years. I am happy for both you and your aunt!

Huge accomplishment. I bet it was not an easy to road to take. I know someone who burned and died in the meth lab explosion. It was very scary, awful and sad. I am glad your aunt pulled it together. Great post, Andi! Thank you so much for sharing.

Thank you everyone so much! She really is amazing. Just to clarify if you'd like to leave a comment for my Aunt I'll be showing her my post, not the forums. I promise I'm not whoring for comments, and if you never leave another comment on my blog I would understand completely, I just know that setting a positive example for others means a lot to her and you are the most encouraging group I know so I thought I'd reach out. Thanks again!
